The Sr. Engineer, NPI is primarily responsible for supporting the Applications Engineering Team with expertise in thin-film device fabrication planning and execution. They will work within a project engineering group that employs multiple engineering disciplines (materials science, chemistry, process, electro-mechanical). They are involved in the design, development, documentation, and validation and of new customer products. They also perform modifications of existing products including defining requirements, timelines, and deliverables with a focus on prototypes, process development, design verification, training production, and preparation for process validation and manufacturing transfer of products. Key Responsibilities:
- Shape and execute thin-film circuit device fabrication plans, including metal deposition, wet/dry etch techniques, and photolithography
- Guide and inspire teammates by sharing technical knowledge and problem-solving skills
- Troubleshoot production processes and lead root cause analyses to keep projects on track
- Evaluate and implement test methods that align with product requirements
- Organize and participate in project meetings to influence current and future design and development efforts
- Serve as a key point of contact for projects of moderate complexity, building strong customer relationships
- Assist in crafting proposals and quotations, responding to customer inquiries with confidence
- Develop and maintain project plans that meet milestones, stay within budget, and comply with medical device quality regulations
- Oversee key project inputs, including feasibility builds, documentation, and testing; equipment selection and process development; device verification; operator and technician training; Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA); and process validation
- Participate in full-cycle innovation, from product design and specifications to material sourcing, prototyping, verification, validation, and manufacturing transfer
- Maintain reliability and punctuality to support team success
- Uphold company quality, safety, and regulatory standards in all work activities
- Adapt to a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM engineering discipline with 7+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 4+ years of experience
- Experience in thin-film circuit fabrication (flex-circuits, semiconductors, or flex-PCBs) with strong knowledge of metal deposition, wet/dry etch techniques, and photolithography
- Proven ability to solve complex equipment, process, and customer design challenges with creative, practical solutions
- Background in mechanical design, tool design, and manufacturing processes
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, material properties, good tooling practices, statistics, and technical writing
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and related documentation
- Excellent organizational skills, high ethical standards, and willingness to travel as required
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and MS Project, with the ability to learn and apply new technology quickly
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to gather and evaluate secondary information
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
