Koch Methanol, LLC is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team in St. James, Louisiana. As an intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the operation, maintenance, and design of electrical and instrumentation systems within a world-class methanol facility. This role offers the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while contributing to projects that drive safety, efficiency, and reliability.

What You Will Do

During your internship, you may:

  • Assist with troubleshooting and documenting electrical and instrumentation issues.
  • Support project activities by helping review technical drawings, databases, and documentation.
  • Learn to use engineering tools such as Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI/Intools).
  • Help update preventive maintenance tasks and schedules for electrical and instrument systems.
  • Participate in reliability investigations and observe root cause failure analysis.
  • Shadow engineers in cross-functional meetings with operations and maintenance teams.
  • Gain exposure to industry standards, safety practices, and compliance requirements.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Enrolled in a degree or alternative program. (e.g., 4 year college program, 2 year technical college program, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.)
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
  • Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2028.
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Previous internship, co-op, or project experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, or process control.
  • Interest in reliability engineering, preventive maintenance, or industrial safety standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear PPE in designated areas.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights on occasion.
