Job Requirements
The Test Engineer II is responsible for supporting all aspects of software testing on their team. This role combines a quality mindset with engineering expertise to design and implement effective test strategies. They work independently on test activities while collaborating closely with engineers and team members to deliver a high-quality product. The Impact You Will Create: The Test Engineer II ensures quality and reliability across the software development lifecycle through comprehensive testing and systematic debugging. Their work directly contributes to the delivery of maintainable, testable, and resilient code on the SEC EDT project. Through collaboration and leadership, they foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the team and broader engineering community. Your Responsibilities in This Role:
- Write and maintain test plans, test cases, and bug reports.
- Write testable, maintainable code in collaboration with developers.
- Account for edge cases, error handling, and expected behaviors in all testing activities.
- Weigh cost and value of testing actions to deliver economically sound solutions with support from senior engineers.
- Engage with the testing or engineering practice to grow personal and team skills.
- Deploy source code using automated pipelines, following SEC-approved Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies and required checks.
- Adhere to Immutable Architecture principles and SEC requirements for all deployments.
- Create and execute automated tests that verify all user-facing functionality. Develop unit and integration tests to validate modules and components.
- Conduct static code analysis and dependency analysis to identify bugs and vulnerabilities.
- Use SEC-provided container analysis tools as directed.
- Run automated tests with deployment scripts, continuous delivery services, or equivalent techniques.
- Conduct load and performance tests at regular intervals to validate system reliability.
- Perform Section 508 accessibility compliance testing through both automated and manual methods.

- Must possess or be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance
- Bachelors Degree Required
- Must have at least 4 years of experience
- Deep experience with GitLab and GitHub for source control, test integration, and automated pipelines.
- Familiarity with common cloud services, especially FedRAMP-authorized AWS environments, to validate deployments and integrations. Knowledge of the federal ATO/SDLC process and practices for securing and testing applications in a federal environment.
- Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and frameworks for unit, integration, functional, and performance testing. Proficiency with Pa11y for accessibility testing (Section 508 compliance).
- Experience using Dependabot for dependency management and vulnerability detection.
- Familiarity with Nexus for artifact management and dependency scanning. Knowledge of container and application security tools including Aqua Security and Veracode.
- Experience with OWASP ZAP for static code analysis and vulnerability scanning.
- Ability to design, implement, and execute automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines, ensuring quality at every stage of delivery.
- Proficiency in writing test cases and scripts for various testing levels (unit, integration, end-to-end).
- Familiarity with testing frameworks and tools used in automated testing.
- Knowledge of software architecture and how to align testing strategies accordingly.
- Understanding of systematic debugging practices.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work within a cross-functional team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to code quality.
- Initiative in identifying and addressing test coverage gaps.
- Ability to document and communicate clearly.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or during meetings.
- Must be able to travel occasionally to client sites or company meetings.
- Ability to communicate effectively via phone, email, and in-person, requiring clear speech, listening, and written communication skills.
- Ability to move within an office environment, including reaching for files, using office equipment, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 pounds).
