$64,355.20 - $126,339.20 RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Position Summary: The role of the Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) is to offer individualized care and clinical guidance to patients, families and caregivers to assist with ongoing healthcare needs.

  • They will identify patients that require assistance navigating the healthcare system from a medical perspective and help them overcome barriers.

  • The ONN will provide clinical education and support for patients and caregivers from diagnosis though end of treatment and beyond.

  • The ONN will assist the physician and PA-C/ARNP with specific patient/family interaction needed to resolve clinical issues.

  • The ONN will assist the physician in establishing the diagnoses and staging to the proper level of specificity to comply with required documentation.

  • The ONN will complete clinically requested documentation and provide medical information for required procedure prior authorizations

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1. Education: Minimum of Bachelors of Science in Nursing

  • 2. Previous Experience: Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Oncology nursing

  • 3. Core Capabilities: a. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • b. Must have knowledge and understanding of oncology diagnoses, treatment regimens and potential toxicities and management

  • c. Ability to work autonomously

  • d. Ability to multi-task with good organizational skills

  • e. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations

  • f. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy

  • g. Must have proficient skills in typing, Word and Outlook

  • h. Be able to utilize the internet to research and assist patients when needed

  • i. Must understand clinical and pathologic staging of all disease sites j. Requires advanced knowledge of treatment regimens and toxicities

  • 4. Certifications/Licenses: Registered Nurse with OCN certification preferred; current CPR certification required

  • 5. Standard Work Days/Hours: Generally, the work days and hours follow the physicians office hours, however, the employee may need to work additional days/hours as necessary to complete their assigned responsibilities
