Essential Job Duties |
The College Business Office (
CBO) seeks a detail-oriented professional to serve as the primary approver of financial transactions. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and accountability for all College-level transactions in alignment with State, Federal, Sponsored Programs, and University policies. The Approver also provides guidance, training, and support to staff while serving as a key resource for Accounts Payable (AP) functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and approve all College-level financial transactions, including vouchers, JVs, IDTs, requisitions, Marketplace approvals, PCard reconciliations, personal reimbursements, receipts, check deposits, and invoices
- Ensure compliance with State, Federal, Sponsored Programs, and University policies, guidelines, and terms and conditions
- Identify transaction errors or issues, initiate corrections, and follow up as needed
- Provide training and guidance to the AP Team and others internal and external to the CBO
- Act as back-up to the supervisor, addressing AP-related questions and supporting unit operations

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Possess proficiency in both Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel), indicating strong skills in document creation, spreadsheet management, and presentation software.
- Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and customer service skills with the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with individuals at all levels within the College as well as other NC State central offices.
- Highly organized with the ability to effectively handle a large volume of work with frequent interruptions and manage competing priorities and shifting requirements with efficiency.
- Ability to perform work with a high degree of autonomy, accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Thorough knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials or similar reporting systems and knowledge of University financial policies and procedures associated with travel and accounts payable functions.
- Experience working in a research-heavy state institution and/or other higher education environment.
- Familiar with management service requests through ServiceNow or similar intake systems for requested transactions.
