Department Summary

This role is a valuable part of Pharmaceutical Technical Development (PTD), dedicated to advancing Genentech's protein pharmaceutical pipeline from discovery to commercialization. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to engage in innovative process development, formulation, and analytical method optimization while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams. Your contributions will be crucial in delivering novel medicines that meet the critical needs of patients.

This position is based in South San Francisco, on site.

The Opportunity

Process Development Rotation Program (PDRP) offers associates the opportunity to experience four diverse six-month assignments over the course of two years within various areas of the process development organization (see more here). In this program, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Experience working on meaningful projects: directly support a molecule, explore a complex scientific question, or evaluate and implement new technologies, supporting areas such as: cell culture development, purification development, analytical development & protein characterization, and drug product process development

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize our current processes and technologies

  • Engage in hands-on lab work and rigorous data analysis

  • Actively participate in professional development committees within the PDRP organization

  • Build a cross-functional network across our process development group

Who You Are

Required Education

Recent graduates (graduated in 2024 or later) with a B.S., B.A. or M.S. program.

Required Disciplines

Chemical and biochemical engineering, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, biomedical engineering, bioengineering, microbiology, biology, or related.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Passionate about science and engineering, data-driven, and enjoy the challenges associated with complex problem-solving

  • Highly self-motivated and willing to work independently or as part of multi-disciplinary teams

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in academic, extracurricular, or professional settings (e.g., leading a club, team projects, or other initiatives)

  • Strong critical thinking, verbal and written communication, and collaboration skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in research labs or industrial internships.

  • Experience working with biologics (proteins, cells, mRNA, DNA) and related technical skills.

The expected hourly rate for this position based on the primary location of California is $44.72. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
