General Description
Position Summary Primary Responsibilities - Conduct comprehensive audiologic evaluations, including diagnostic assessments for patients of all ages. - Provide pre-operative and post-operative cochlear implant evaluations, programming, and rehabilitation services. - Counsel patients and families regarding candidacy, expectations, and outcomes for cochlear implants and other implantable hearing technologies. - Dispense, fit, and adjust hearing aids and related assistive listening devices, including verification and validation measures. - Interpret test results and communicate findings to patients, families, and referring providers in a clear, compassionate manner. - Collaborate with otolaryngologists, speech-language pathologists, and other clinical team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care. - Document patient care in the electronic medical record in accordance with Johns Hopkins University and departmental standards. - Participate in quality improvement, clinical research, and/or educational initiatives, as appropriate to interest and departmental needs. QualificationsQualifications - Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) or equivalent degree from an accredited program. - Eligible for Maryland and Washington, D.C. audiology licensure prior to start date. - Minimum of one year of post-graduate clinical experience preferred; new graduates with strong cochlear implant interest are encouraged to apply. - Demonstrated interest and/or experience in cochlear implant services and other implantable hearing technologies. - Strong skills in diagnostic audiology, amplification fitting, and patient counseling. - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office. |
