MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High School Diploma/GED.

2. Valid driver's license.

3. Emergency Medical Vehicle Operator (EMVO) Certification through WV Office of Emergency Medical Services within 60 days of hire.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years driving experience with clean driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1.EMT certification through the West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services.

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years of experience driving emergency vehicles.

1. Plans and organizes patient transfers.

2. Moves patients via wheelchair to various appointments.

3. Safely secures wheelchair patients utilizing seatbelts and restraining straps.

4. Completes run reports on all patient moves.

6. Is an integral part of our emergency team assuring safe transport to and from the scene of accident or illness.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Service Excellence Standards.

2. Knowledge of street, route and healthcare facility locations.

3. Ability to follow hospital policies on attendance, punctuality, and scheduling.

4. Computer skills to complete run reports and track daily activity.

5. Ability to trouble shoot minor mechanical problems with van and lift.

6. Accountable for keeping wheelchairs clean and in good repair.

7. Familiar with WV emergency driving laws.

Additional Job Description:

Responsible for attending class to obtain national registry of emergency medical technicians certification at the basic life support level. Will become a certified Emergency Vehicle Operator during the initial phase of the program and work alongside crews in the field for on the job training. Throughout the program the EMT candidate will learn all necessary skills and functions of the job, including but not limited to; CPR, airway management, patient assessment, basic medication administration, HazMat Awareness, mass casualty management, triage, as well as a wide range of other field skills. After successful completion of the program, and certification though the NREMT and state certification board, candidate will be considered for full time employment as an EMT.
