Schedule:

Must be available to work the following ministry hours*

Sunday 8am-12pm (church)

Wednesday 5pm-9pm (youth group is 6:30pm-8pm)

Thursday 5pm-8pm (music school)

*the rest of work hours will be more varied based on needs of Youth Development programming

Position Summary:

The purpose of this position is to work cross functionally to grow and develop the congregational life and youth programming of the Salvation Army Kroc Center under the supervision of the Center Director-Corps Officer. This person must be able to work alongside a dynamic team, with a servant's heart, excel in communication, organizational ability, multi-tasking, and marketing skills. Successful candidates will embrace the vision to encourage, equip and engage members of our community and will support all aspects of the Corps vision as developed and collaborated upon with the Corps Officers.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate all weekly, monthly, yearly and special event activities in Student and Children's Ministries, which includes youth ages 11-18.
  • Supervise children's ministry lead and youth ministry associate
  • Create pathways and opportunities for the children in our programs to be connected to Kroc Church.
  • Participate in the teaching and preaching ministry of the Corps


  • Work with Divisional and Territorial staff to support TSA Divisional and Territorial student ministries at the Kroc Center including all offsite youth offerings
  • Lead and train employees, staff and volunteer youth leaders on Salvation Army Corps/Church program and outreach ministries.


  • Coordinate, compile and distribute community group curriculum as well as leader training materials, per Salvation Army program structures and materials and as directed by the Corps Officers


  • Work with local schools and counselors to create opportunities for connection with our student ministries activities.
  • Regularly interact with students in The Zone (Discovery Club and Youth Activity Area) and at schools in order to invite students to Corps/Church Student Ministry.


  • Develop and implement a process for facilitating and tracking the participation and spiritual growth of all youth participate in the Center.
  • Develop, program and maintain opportunities for interning and/or discipling of teens within the Kroc Corps and within the Community Center


  • Work collaboratively with the Youth Outreach Manager to staff, coordinate and run the Mobile Kroc recess program at local elementary schools.
  • Work with the Youth Outreach Manager to implement and coordinate youth summer camps
  • Coordinate transportation and field trips for summer camps
  • Serve as the camp coordinator for Adventure and Expedition camp during the summer
  • Connect middle and high school age youth to ministry based programming
  • Serve as the key point of contact for all middle school age youth weeknights during the school year with a leadership role in gym, wall and Zone
  • Ensure that parents and youth alike view the Kroc Center as a safe area for youth and a place they can turn in time of need.
  • Recruit, train and place volunteers to serve in various areas of the Corps.
  • Interview, vet and hire for summer camp temporary employment


  • Collect and report statistics including attendance and maintain the master calendar for all youth ministries.
  • Serve as ministry liaison for community outreach committee
  • Pray and counsel people in distress and resource them to professionals when necessary.
  • Attend all staff and Advisory Board meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.



General Qualifications and Proficiencies:



  • At least five (5) years combined experience in ministry.
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) preferably in ministry, theology but may also include social services or youth education
  • Ministry training or equivalent experience
  • Ability to understand, embrace, and communicate The Salvation Army's mission and character.
  • Have excellent people, organizational, written and oral skills
  • Proficiency in the Bible and ability to share truth found in scripture
  • Ability to speak in front of large gatherings with effective presentation skills
  • Team oriented leader with ability to grow volunteers, employees and staff professionally
  • Other requisite characteristics: relates well in one-on-one and group situations, self-starter, creative, leader, team-oriented, innovative, honest, responsive, servant attitude, vision, drive, adaptable, and ability to follow through.



Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
