Summary

Deburr all types of precision machined aerospace parts per blueprint and work order instructions. Ensure jobs are being ran in the correct order by using our MRP system to obtain reports.



Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Run Dispatch Reports to ensure jobs are being ran on time in the deburring and lapping area.
  • Report any metrics and any delays/issues to managers.
  • Assist in any projects assigned by department manager.
  • Responsible for training new team members on deburring requirements.
  • Assist in the creation of deburring aids, cycle times estimations and process improvements for the deburring and lapping area.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area.
  • Deburr various metal parts using stationary abrasive wheels, handheld rotary air tools, and hand scraping devices.
  • Apply abrasives to parts to remove sharp edges left as a byproduct of machining.
  • Inspect critical dimensions to ensure components adhere to blueprint specifications.
  • Operate drill presses using wire brushes and conical burr cutters.
  • Clean parts as necessary using solvents.
  • Operate various deburring equipment.
  • Required to check critical dimensions +/- .0002
  • Clean work areas including benches, shelves, walls, carts, and mopping floors.
  • Seek lean process improvement ideas.
  • Required to maintain OCP certification (certified operator program)
  • Ability to assess potential nonconformances prior to beginning deburring process.
  • Ability to evaluate product requirements without direction



Qualification Requirements

  • Education/Experience

    • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED);
    • 3-5 years related experience
    • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university with 3-5 years related lead/supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Language Skills

    • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
    • Preferred: Strong command of both English and Spanish, including written and spoken communication.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of supervisors or employees.


  • Math Skills

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


  • Reasoning Skills

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


  • Computer/ Office Skills

    • Basic windows/internet browser
    • ERP/Inventory
    • Blueprint Reading
    • O.C.P. (certified operator program)





Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands

    • Frequent Activities: Standing, sitting, walking, typing, handling objects, reaching, talking/hearing, lifting/pushing/pulling up to 10 lbs

    • Occasional activities: Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs, stooping, kneeling, crouching.



    • Rare activities: Climbing/balancing, lifting/pushing/pulling heavy weights (50-100+ lbs).

    • Frequent: Close vision



    • Occasional: Color vision, peripheral vision, computer work and focus adjustments


    • Rare: Distance vision and depth perception


  • Work Environment


    • Frequent exposure: Mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, and moderate-to-loud noise.


    • Occasional exposure: Vibration and very loud noise.

    • Rare exposure: High places, outdoor weather, electrical shock, very quiet to quiet noise.

Compensation and Benefits Offered

Actual base salary offered to the selected applicant will be based on their work location, qualifications, job related skills, relevant education, and training experience.

Base hourly rate range Minimum $26.00 - Maximum $32.00
