Start Date ASAP Contract Home Office Salary Range DOE Posting Date 09/05/2025 Union No FLSA Status Exempt Shift Work No FT/PT Full-Time Relocation No Travel Possible Job Summary: The Junior Data Engineer will support the design, development, and maintenance of M1's centralized data platform within the Azure Government Community Cloud (GCCH) environment. This role is designed for a motivated early-career professional eager to grow technical expertise while directly contributing to M1's critical data engineering and predictive analytics initiatives. The Junior Data Engineer will work under the guidance and mentorship of the senior Data Engineer, with opportunities to learn and expand skills in data pipelines, compliance-driven practices, and cloud-native solutions. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Data Pipeline Development * Assist in building, testing, and deploying ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from operational, personnel, parts, and aircraft systems into the centralized Data Lake. * Implement data cleansing, validation, and normalization routines under the guidance of the senior Data Engineer. * Support integration of structured and unstructured data into the Azure GCCH environment. Platform Operations and Support * Monitor daily data pipeline jobs, troubleshoot basic issues, and escalate complex problems as needed. * Perform data quality checks, validation scripts, and error logging to maintain data integrity. * Document data workflows, mappings, and integration points. * Assist with compliance-related monitoring and reporting standards. Compliance and Security * Learn and apply industry standards relevant to M1's environment (FedRAMP, NIST, DoD, CMMC). * Implement access controls, data masking, and encryption policies under senior team member direction. * Support compliance audits and reporting requirements as assigned. Collaboration and Growth * Work closely with BI Analysts to ensure clean, reliable data flows into reporting and dashboards. * Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives to gain experience in Agile practices. * Engage in mentorship with the senior Data Engineer to expand technical depth in cloud-native data engineering. * Contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions and process documentation to support team learning. Additional Relevant Duties as Assigned Page 2 of 2 Qualifications and Experience: Education * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related technical field. * Equivalent education or relevant experience may be considered. * Relevant certifications or coursework in cloud/data engineering a plus (e.g., Azure Fundamentals, Azure Data Engineer * Associate [in progress or planned]). Experience * 3 years of professional or internship experience in data engineering, software development, or database administration. Familiarity with: o SQL and database management. o At least one programming language (Python preferred). o ETL processes and data transformation concepts. o Exposure to cloud environments (Azure preferred; AWS/GCP considered transferable). * Prior experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) a plus. Skills and Competencies * Reports to IT Operations Director, based at M1's Denton, TX office. * Hybrid work environment available, subject to business needs. * Primarily office-based; occasional travel or after-hours work may be required. * U.S. citizenship required; must be eligible for security clearance as role supports compliance-regulated environments.
