The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey.

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Family Specialist facilitates psycho-educational groups for clients, monitors patient's progress based on the behavior modification status system, and collaborates with the treatment team on monitoring and supporting patients to achieve therapeutic goals.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a mental health field

Preferred:

  • One year related experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, any day Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 8pm
  • A full day shift could either be 8am to 4pm, or 12pm to 8pm
  • Per Diem (PD)

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and leads designated therapeutic groups in order to support program objectives and responds to the needs of program participants
  • Responds to crisis situations, according to established policy and procedure in an effort to maintain the patients in the program and the community
  • This includes the use of therapeutic interventions for crisis deescalation
  • Independently monitors and evaluates the patients' progress within the structured behavior modification aspect of program
  • Collaborates on a regular basis with program assistants in order to affect a coordinated problem-free transportation schedule
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of available resources for program enhancement to include, but not limited to videos, educational curriculum, printed material, books, therapeutic games, etc.
  • Maintains open channels of communication with team members, patients and families
  • Participates in treatment team planning meetings, program/staff meetings, group and community meetings, as required, and acts as a resource to the team, when indicated
  • Regularly collaborates with the social workers, and provides individual and family assessment, when appropriate
  • As necessary, independently makes visits to the home environment to engage the youth/caretaker into the program setting and to sustain engagement
  • Provides psycho-educational sessions in the home environment when indicated, which are geared toward achieving specified outcomes
