SUMMARY

The Dental Education Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing the department's educational initiatives. This role involves developing and maintaining the quality of the training program while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Manages the planning, developing, and implementing of the dental orientation program including quality improvement projects related to the program.
2. Ensures the professional development and competency of dental clinical staff, provides adequate resources, and ensures equitable distribution of work and problem-solving to optimize workflow.
3. Performs dental assistant competencies to ensure adherence to clinical standards.
4. Provides regular updates on clinical issues, practice theory, and procedures to maintain staff proficiency.
5. Assesses the educational needs of Dental Assistants and adapts training programs accordingly.
6. Collaborates with the practice manager or directors to set educational goals, develop objectives, and update clinical policies and procedures.
7. Manages the training site/time distribution and maintains sensitive accreditation and regulatory compliance documents.
8. Mentors, develops, and evaluates new hires, community dental assistants, and preceptors to enhance learning experiences and ensure effective integration into the team.
9. Fosters Collaborative Partnerships by promoting effective communication, teamwork, and diversity; aligning educational programs with organizational goals, supporting quality improvement and patient safety standards.

SCOPE & LEVEL
Guidelines: Advanced full performance professional level work that requires additional knowledge, education, training or experience. Guidelines are generally in the form of stated objectives only with issues and factors largely undefined requiring the employee to exercise creativity and ingenuity in devising criteria, techniques, strategy, and methodologies for approaching assigned functions or projects.
Complexity: Duties performed involve concepts, theories, and concrete factors to be evaluated and weighed requiring a high degree of analytical ability, independent judgment, and decision-making. Acts as a subject matter expert in the field of expertise.
Decision Making: Exercises judgment and discretion, and is responsible for determining the time, place and sequence of the work performed.
Communications: Contacts with team members, clients or the public where some degree of discretion and judgment are required in carrying out a major program and/or function of the organization.
Supervision Received: Performs work with minimal supervisory oversight. Work assignment is generally unstructured, and the employee is responsible for organizing complex, varied, and simultaneous coordination of several functions, programs, or projects in various stages of completion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associate's degree in dental hygiene or other related field.
Experience: Five (5) years of clinical pediatric dental experience and/or previous educator experience.
Equivalency: None
Certification(s): BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire, Certified Dental Assistant, Certified Expanded Duty Dental Assistant, DORA Certified.
Licensure(s): State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Registered Dental Hygienist

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Hourly Range: $33.12 to $49.68
