Job Overview Title: Process & Project Engineer Reports to: VP of Engineering & Quality Location: Kent, WA Type: Exempt, Full-Time Schedule Type: Monday - Friday day shift Position Summary The Process & Project Engineer is a highly motivated, solution-oriented, and customer-driven individual responsible for leading technical projects, process improvements, and new capability onboarding. The position bridges engineering, quality, and operations, with a focus on capital project execution, process optimization, automation, and integration of new customer programs. The role involves capturing productivity and cost savings while improving the speed of workflow and reducing ergonomic risks for employees. The Ideal Candidate Has an entrepreneurial mindset, thinking and acting like an owner with a strong sense of urgency and bias for action. Is skilled in monitoring/assessing the performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements, take corrective action and ultimately will create a track record of successful leadership. Is comfortable with ambiguity and constant change, nimble and responsive in the short-term while driving progress on longer-term initiatives and process improvements. Has emotional intelligence and is able to build strong trust with leaders and employees of diverse backgrounds and situations at all levels. Is an exceptional communicator in both written and verbal interactions; clear, concise, and courageous in giving tough but supportive feedback when needed. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage cross-functional engineering projects, including new process/product onboarding, facility expansions, and automation initiatives. Develop and optimize process flows and equipment layouts for Plating, Anodize, Paint, NDT, Shot Peen/Blast, Polish, and Packaging operations. Automate data collection, analysis, and reporting through database systems. Drive Productivity initiatives to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and increase throughput. Provide technical troubleshooting support for plating and finishing processes. Collaborate with customers and suppliers on new process qualifications and product launches. Mentor production and quality staff in process knowledge and best practices. Standardize and document processes to ensure consistency and repeatability of best practices. Influence collaboration across departments to enhance cost savings and implement productivity initiatives. Support facility quality systems, ensuring compliance with Nadcap, AS9100, AMS, ASTM, MIL, and customer-specific requirements. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks/CATIA preferred). Experience with ERP systems (Infor Syteline a plus). Advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis; Power BI knowledge is a plus. Familiarity with 3D printing preferred. Experience: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences, or related field. 3+ years of relevant work experience in manufacturing or process engineering. Aerospace or metal/surface finishing experience is preferred. Soft Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a focus on customer service. Self-motivated and adaptable to a changing environment with a sense of urgency. Other Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. (Export license required for non-U.S. persons). Essential Mental/Physical Demands Extensive use of hands in writing, use of computer and other office equipment. Sitting for long periods of time in an office environment. Ability to travel on airplanes or in vehicles for long periods of time. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. on an occasional basis. Within the production environment, you may be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and fumes from metal finishing chemicals. Temperatures in the production environment can fluctuate with outside weather conditions. Safety glasses are required in some areas of the production environment.
