Temporary Warehouse Specialist, Full-Time (Non-exempt)

Schedule: Flexible; daytime hours, weekdays and one weekend day. Work some evenings and holidays according to business needs.

Pay Range: $20.00-$25.00 per hour, based on experience.

What You'll Do

• Review sku movement daily and work with sales floor staff to restock merchandise.
• Receive and document all inbound shipments from vendors, checking for overages, shortages, and damaged goods. Process and create merchandise tags for the goods and ensure the goods are accurately ticketed before being displayed on the sales floor.
• Reconcile any shipping problems with vendors and shippers. Maintain accurate vendor shipment records.
• Create new methods to better keep track of shipping discrepancies and errors.
• Monitor the movement and transfer of merchandise from various Shop locations and reconcile transfer issues for accurate inventory counts.
• Take physical inventory of merchandise as needed and prepare stockroom for annual inventory counts and assist in the Museum Shop annual inventory.
• Keep accurate customer shipment records and handle all customer questions concerning shipments.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of shipping supplies and partner with management to order additional items prior to becoming low in stock.
• Maintain stockroom in an orderly organized fashion and create new ways to better organize the stockroom for more efficiency.
• Process, package, and ship all E-commerce transactions in a timely manner. Handle all E-commerce customer issues, including emailing customers when there are issues and processing returns.
• Delegate projects to the Shop team as needed to help more quickly and efficiently processing of shipments.
• Perform tasks with minimal supervision from the supervisor.
• Assist visitors and staff in a consistently courteous, professional, and friendly manner.
• Work with DAM volunteers in a positive and constructive manner that demonstrates their value to the Shop and the organization.
• Remove trash and recycling daily/weekly.
• Consistent usage of the Racial Equity Lens in day-to-day operations.

What We're Looking for

You might be a great fit if you have:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse environment.
• Basic knowledge of retail operations.
• Thorough knowledge of shipping and receiving standard procedures.
• Detail oriented with organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Positive communication skills for dealing with vendors, staff (paid and volunteers).
• High quality customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Team oriented.

Work Environment/Physical Activities

• Work evening hours and weekends or holidays where necessary; must be flexible to change hours for exhibitions and events as needed.
• Work in temperature-controlled environment.
• Stand and/or walk for long periods of time, climb stairs, reach, bend, lift, climb ladders, and help set up displays and fixtures.
• Repeated lifting and heavy lifting of 40lbs and up.
• Use pallet jack/forklift, hand trucks, and carts.

This position is not covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with AFSCME-CWU.
