Senior Principal Engineer Python & Release Management (QA Infrastructure)

Our QA Infrastructure team is building the next generation of automation foundations for Quality Engineering. Today, we are at the beginning of our journey with no existing CI/CD pipelines in place and we are looking for a strong DevOps engineer who will lead the design and implementation of these processes from the ground up, including the creation and management of internal Python packages used across the organization.

We are building the next generation of QA automation infrastructure and packaging systems from the ground up. As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will drive the design, development, and governance of our Python ecosystem and release management processes. You will define best practices for packaging, distribution, and CI/CD, ensuring that our internal libraries and tools are robust, reusable, and secure. This is a hands-on technical leadership role with high visibility and impact across engineering and QA teams.

What youll achieve
As a senior technical leader, you will own the end-to-end lifecycle of Python libraries and QA infrastructure releases: from source to package, from build pipelines to containerized test environments. You will set release standards, enforce quality gates, and enable large-scale automation that accelerates development and improves product quality.

You will:

• Define and implement release management strategies for QA infrastructure and internal Python libraries
• Build, package, and publish Python libraries to internal repositories (Artifactory, Nexus, PyPI)
• Architect and maintain CI/CD pipelines from scratch (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Tekton)
• Manage containerized test environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable QA execution
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, and development teams to align packaging and release practices with business needs

Essential Requirements

• Deep expertise in Python packaging (setuptools, Poetry, wheels, pyproject.toml) and release engineering
• Proven experience in release management (versioning, tagging, release notes, rollback strategies)
• Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration for test environments
• 810+ years in software engineering, DevOps, or QA infrastructure roles with leadership responsibility

Desirable Requirements

• Background in large-scale test automation infrastructure
• Strong communication and mentorship skills; proven ability to influence technical direction across teams

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position: $ 170,000 to $220,000.
