Company Description

The Clearing is a modern management consulting firm that helps leaders solve complex challenges by turning insight into action. We specialize in diagnosing the root causes of organizational friction across people, processes, and technology, then configuring proven solutions that accelerate meaningful, measurable progress. Our approach blends analytical rigor with human-centered design. Whether we're enabling change, optimizing workflows, or guiding smart technology adoption, everything we do is built to scale, repeat, and deliver value. We work across public, private, and mission-driven sectors, partnering with clients to modernize how they lead, work, and deliver.

Our team brings deep experience across disciplines, including change management, strategic planning, organizational design, leadership development, behavioral science, and more. What unites us is a shared belief: real progress happens when we focus on what's not working, define what's possible, and deliver outcomes that stick.

If you're excited by purpose-driven work, energized by solving problems at their roots, and passionate about building solutions that last, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

  • Manage project lanes or small projects to completion by scoping tasks and managing resources (i.e., time, budget, people) effectively; forecast and track lane/project financial performance and contribute to invoicing reviews and approvals
  • Develop and manage the production of high-quality client-facing deliverables with established project quality standards, and Solution-based products for other team members to finalize and/or approve; demonstrate strong attention to detail and effective written communication skills
  • Support the design, coordination, and logistics of external and internal meetings; apply active listening skills and contribute to knowledge capture during meetings
  • Facilitate client meetings to achieve identified, desired outcomes
  • Develop meaningful and trusted professional relationships with clients; serve as the point of contact for one or more clients in a lane or project
  • Participate in business development and networking opportunities, proposal creation and coordination
  • Onboard, train, and develop junior team members
  • Manage increasingly complex assignments and multiple tasks/client deliverables (and competing priorities) at once
  • Support and/or lead research, data gathering, and analysis to inform the development of client solutions; synthesize and present results clearly
  • Showcase critical thinking skills to evaluate needs, make recommendations, and partner with team members to refine thinking and approaches to client challenges
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to teammate and client strengths and weaknesses to create a sense of belonging and to value individual contributions
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of four years of professional work experience, preferably in management consulting or another professional service or client-facing environment
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance and/or a positive suitability determination by completing necessary background check investigations to perform client work
  • Willingness and ability to travel to client sites in the surrounding DC and Baltimore metro areas; occasional travel outside of these regions could be expected (5%)
  • Critical thinking/problem-solving skills, attention to detail, organizational and time-management skills, and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable mindset to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced, high-stakes client environments
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States, now and in the future, without the need for company (The Clearing) visa sponsorship now or in the future
