Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

The Digital Business Services (DBS) department at METTLER TOLEDO delivers technical solutions that enhance productivity, drive innovation, and improve customer experience, covering everything from infrastructure and applications to strategy and global operations. Our Data, Analytics & AI team supports the business with AI platforms, expertise, and solutions, and we are seeking a Data Scientist to further advance our AI journey and implement AI projects across the organization.

In this role, you will assess, design, build, and deploy AI solutions using analytics, ML, DL, NLP, and agentic AI for global use across diverse business areas. You will also guide business partners in implementing these solutions and actively contribute to our cross-departmental AI Competence Center with your expertise in data science, programming, and software development. The ideal candidate is passionate about AI and motivated to support our global community through this transformative journey. What you will do

  • Develop and maintain AI-based solutions based on business requirements, especially focused on NLP and LLMs
  • Development of agentic solutions, especially around knowledge management, and data processing
  • Onboard new teams, users and content onto the AI solutions
  • User training about AI in general and the MT internal AI solution specifically
  • Your focus will be on company internal AI solutions, with occasional support or development of product related AI models or data analytics
  • Design, build, and test AI solutions that meet the needs of business stakeholders and users
  • Assist in delivering and preparing datasets for analysis, ensuring adherence to quality standards and improving data cleaning processes
  • Understand business objectives and requirements to coach stakeholders in developing models and to prepare the data
  • Comply with strict data, intellectual property and security guidelines
  • Manage stakeholders, provide transparency on progress, business case and risks
To be eligible for this position, you must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring any employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. This includes CPT, OPT, F-1, J-1, H-1B, or any other employment-based visa.
What You Need to Succeed
  • Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Proficiency in Python. Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases including data modeling and warehousing
  • Experience with data integration, cloud platforms, MS-SQL
  • Experience working with APIs developing distributed solutions, along with a solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • Experience with additional programming languages or software development aspects (e.g. frontend development with Javascript, cloud deployments with Terraform) is a plus
  • Ability to assess technical projects, including infrastructure design, and to work independently while approaching problems methodically and pragmatically
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly with unstructured datasets, coupled with excellent organizational skills for coordinating work across multidisciplinary teams
  • Fluent communication skills in English. Other languages are a plus
