NS2 Mission is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior Software Developer to support a data-driven program in Chantilly, VA. This role focuses on developing and maintaining scalable systems that process large volumes of data from diverse sources, empowering analysts and data scientists to perform high-impact work in support of the mission. Position Overview: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and optimize software solutions that handle large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and analysis. Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using modern programming languages and frameworks. Partner with data engineers and analysts to ensure systems are performant, secure, and reliable. Contribute to the evolution of a complex data ecosystem by integrating new tools and technologies. Work in an Agile environment, contributing to sprint planning, code reviews, and continuous integration/deployment practices. Troubleshoot issues, support system operations, and maintain thorough documentation for deployed solutions. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience in a scientific/technical discipline. Strong experience with Python and its data ecosystem (e.g., NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn). Proficiency in Java or Scala for developing scalable backend systems and data pipelines. Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Hive). Familiarity with the Apache Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, MapReduce, YARN). Working knowledge of Apache Spark and its modules (e.g., Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, MLlib). Experience with cloud-based data platforms like AWS Glue, Google Cloud Dataflow, or Azure Data Factory. Hands-on experience with containerization tools (e.g., Docker). Familiarity with orchestration and workflow management tools (e.g., Kubernetes, Apache Airflow). Demonstrated ability to thrive in dynamic environments and contribute to team-driven development cycles. Prior experience working in Agile/Scrum teams. Additional Qualifications: Excellent collaboration and communication skills. Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Effective time management with high attention to detail. Adaptability and eagerness to learn emerging technologies.
