This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of this hardworking team of technicians, you will mainly perform precision cleaning of Aerospace components. This will involve inspection, disassembly, cleaning, verification of cleanliness, reassembly, operational testing, leak check and final packaging. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of propulsion module, engine, and sub assembly manufacturing. The Cleaning, Passivation, and Verification Lab is a critical part of the company's Integrated Supply Chain.

Being at the heart of Blue Origin operations, the West Texas Site in Van Horn, TX offers eligible employee's additional attractive financial incentives to supplement their competitive base earnings, including a living allowance and relocation assistance. Eligibility for these additional benefits is based on the employee's ability to permanently relocate to Van Horn, TX.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Clean and passivate hardware using means such as solvent/chemical, mechanical, ultrasonic, and precision cleaning methods.

  • Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of tubing/piping/components for acceptance.

  • Disassemble/Inspect/rebuild/test components.

  • Safely handle hardware utilizing overhead cranes, hoists, and associated lifting equipment.

  • Use titration and other direct measurement methods to analyze and correct lab solvent/chemical systems.

  • Use various methods to provide identifying features to hardware per technical documentation.

  • Inspect hardware using visual, ultraviolet light, borescope, microscopic particle count, and high-precision weighing methods.

  • Perform shop level maintenance and calibration of equipment such as pumps, tanks, filtration systems, scales, etc.

  • Conduct general housekeeping of lab and certified clean room area.

  • Follow safety regulations and wear protective eyewear, steel toe boots, and other applicable personal protective equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience performing assembly, disassembly, inspection, or maintenance of mechanical hardware, components, or equipment in a professional, technical, or vocational setting.

  • Exposure to industrial or laboratory cleaning processes (e.g., solvent, ultrasonic, or chemical) and safe handling of hardware or materials in a shop, warehouse, or lab environment.

  • Ability to conduct, or willingness to learn, hydrostatic/pneumatic testing and follow detailed procedures. Familiarity with basic inspection methods, such as use of microscopes, borescopes, visual or ultraviolet inspection, or precision weighing tools.

  • Able to lift items up to 40 lbs. unassisted and operate overhead cranes, hoists, or lifting equipment with training.

  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to instructions, solve technical problems, and accurately record results (examples required in resume/application).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience entering data into digital forms, inventory systems, or databases.

  • Ability and willingness to work an 8 days on, 6 days off rotation

  • Understanding of safety protocols in technical environments and willingness to consistently use required PPE, such as safety glasses and steel toe boots.

  • Meets 20/20 near-sight vision standard, corrected or uncorrected with glasses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with precision cleaning of aerospace, medical, or other precision components.

  • Prior experience fabricating, maintaining, testing, operating, or inspecting mechanical components for fluid/gas systems.

  • Exposure to chemistry fundamentals applied to fluid systems operations or testing.

  • Experience with mechanical component inspection and refurbishment (e.g., valves: Ball, Globe, Needle, Check; regulators; instrumentation; cryogenic systems a plus).

  • Familiarity with various styles of fluid/gas connections in tubing and pipe.

  • Material handling and inventory management experience.

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
