POSITION SUMMARY:



  • The Accounting Manager reports to the Divisional VP for Finance and Accounting
  • Located in Bedford Park, IL
  • Full-Time
  • In Office/Hybrid



As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing all functions of the Accounting Department. This includes establishing robust internal controls and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with TriMark Policies and GAAP. Key responsibilities include managing journal entry preparation, maintaining inventory accuracy and valuation, overseeing WIP revenue recognition, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, and ensuring adherence to internal control procedures. You will also provide ad hoc financial analysis, support budgeting and forecasting activities, and contribute to broader business analysis as needed.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Team Leadership:



  • Supervise and support the general accounting staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.


Financial Reporting:



  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, meeting all corporate deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit financial statements, analysis, and commentary in collaboration with the Divisional VP of Finance and Accounting.


Inventory Management:



  • Maintain accurate inventory valuation and manage variance deferrals.
  • Oversee customer and vendor rebate processes and accruals.


Revenue Recognition:



  • Ensure accurate Project WIP revenue recognition and conduct project profitability analysis.
  • Validate that Billings in Excess of Costs align appropriately with anticipated future revenue recognition.


Compliance and Audits:



  • Support internal and external compliance audits and information requests.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with sales tax deposits and filings.


Process Improvement:



  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize accounting workflows.


Financial Analysis:



  • Provide budget and forecast support as required.
  • Conduct ad hoc account analysis to support strategic decisions.


Communication and Collaboration:



  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to cross-functional teams.



COMPETENCIES:



  • Proven ability to manage accounting operations with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting.
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Strong ERP experience, preferably with JDE (JD Edwards).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and results-driven approach.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on process optimization.



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:



  • 6 - 8 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing or distribution business, or equivalent Military or practical experience.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Experience with JDE ERP system is a plus.
  • Strong process improvement skills.
  • Prior experience managing and developing accounting teams.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.

The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate's unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.


In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark's' benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
