We are currently hiring a Full-Time, Director, Milton Brewery & Contract Manufacturing in Milton, DE. Job Summary The Director of the Milton Brewery & Contract Manufacturing is responsible for strategically managing the Milton brewery operations and our network of co-manufacturing partners across the U.S. and Canada to support the broader supply chain and company objectives. This role oversees daily brewery operations while driving the co-manufacturing strategy and maintaining strong external partnerships. Reporting to the Chief Supply Chain Officer, the Director serves as the operational lead for Integrated Supply Chain Leadership Team (ISCLT), collaborating closely with the innovation team to enable Boston Beer Company innovation and ensure the necessary capabilities are in place-or identified-to support new product production. What You'll Brew: Planning
- Collaborate with Demand and Supply Planning teams to build a supply/demand plan aligned with business needs.
- Implement external and small-run manufacturing capabilities to support innovation, reduce complexity at large breweries, and establish a Small Batch Manufacturing Integrated Supply Chain.
- Ensure Milton Brewery and co-manufacturing service levels consistently meet or exceed 95%.
- Represent Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) in the Blue Sky innovation and commercialization process.
Sourcing
- Oversee procurement and delivery of raw and packaging materials for Milton and co-manufacturing partners, ensuring continuity of production and minimizing waste.
- Monitor and align with third-party contractual KPIs (e.g., yield loss, schedule adherence, inventory levels).
- Optimize the third-party production network based on capability, capacity, cost, speed, quality, and strategic priorities.
- Partner with innovation, commercialization, planning, and quality teams to ensure smooth and timely product launches.
- Lead contract development and negotiations with co-manufacturing partners.
Manufacturing
- Establish and maintain co-manufacturing relationships that deliver demand efficiently and meet BBC quality standards.
- Define and apply criteria for external production sourcing and transitioning pilots to full-scale commercialization.
Delivery
- Ensure timely execution of transportation and logistics initiatives.
- Transition co-manufacturing contracts and supply rhythms to support replenishment and meet delivery targets.
Key Deliverables
- Execute third-party manufacturing contracts with favorable terms that support growth and cost reduction.
- Actively manage KPIs and use quarterly scorecards to hold BBC and partners accountable.
- Collaborate with Quality on corrective actions, scorecards, and audits.
- Identify process improvements to enhance small batch manufacturing capabilities.
- Resolve external vendor constraints, from raw material sourcing to packaging development.
Leadership
- Lead the hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of engaged, high-performing team members.
- Set clear expectations and provide direction, empowering direct reports while holding them accountable for achieving goals.
- Foster a collaborative, results-driven team environment by resolving conflicts, removing obstacles, and inspiring action.
- Deliver regular, meaningful feedback through coaching, development conversations, and comprehensive performance reviews focused on growth and continuous improvement.
Physical Demands
- Must be willing to wear required PPE.
- Occasionally lift and move objects or boxes up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to sit at a computer or tablet for extended periods.
- Occasional bending, twisting, and reaching.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend under conveyors, and step over conveyors for extended periods.
Working Conditions
- Frequent exposure to production environments with:
- Loud, constant noise.
- Non-conditioned spaces with extreme hot or cold temperatures.
- Complex operating areas with dense equipment and forklift traffic, requiring high situational awareness.
Travel: Up to 20% travel required. What Ingredients You'll Bring: Minimum Qualifications:
- 10+ years in Food Manufacturing and Production setting
- 10+ years in a leadership role
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years experience in operations, logistics, or sourcing and management of external food and/or beverage manufacturing relationships
- Related industry certification a plus (ex: APICS, IBF)
- Software Skills: SAP and Proficiency with MS Office required
Level: 3M At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $175,000 and $275,000. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
