Responsibilities
SUMMARY The Industrial Engineer plays a key role in supporting KGPCo's distribution and supply chain operations through data-driven analysis, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position will focus on improving operational efficiency, space utilization, and labor productivity across the warehouse network. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver with strong analytical skills, capable of developing and implementing sustainable solutions that enhance performance and service levels. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate and Justify Automation: Conduct comprehensive analysis of current and future state warehouse operations to identify opportunities for automation, robotics, and advanced material handling systems.
- Process Mapping & Measurement: Utilize industrial engineering techniques (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, time studies, value stream mapping) to rigorously map, measure, and analyze existing warehouse processes (e.g., receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping) to identify bottlenecks, waste, and inefficiencies.
- Drive Implementation Projects: Serve as the technical lead or project manager for automation implementation and process change projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams (Operations, IT, Maintenance, Vendors) to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and achieve the intended performance goals.
- Analyze warehouse and distribution processes to identify improvement opportunities that increase efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance quality.
- Conduct time studies, workflow analyses, and capacity modeling to drive labor optimization and process standardization.
- Prepare new product cost estimates to assist with securing new business.
- Prepare capital expenditure proposals (CEPs) to improve production processes and/or service to our customers.
- Conduct ergonomic studies, time studies and support Safety projects and initiatives.
- Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and sustain operational improvements.
- Collaborate with Operations, Planning, and IT teams to implement new processes, system enhancements, and automation initiatives.
- Work with DC Operations management to design facility layout planning, slotting optimization, and material flow design to maximize space and resource utilization for the most optimal flow and efficiency.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documentation to ensure consistent execution across all shifts.
- Partner with the Continuous Improvement and Safety teams to implement Lean principles and ergonomic best practices.
- Participate in warehouse management system (WMS) configuration, testing, and validation related to new or modified processes.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects, including new facility start-ups, equipment integrations, and large-scale process changes.
- Provide training and support to operations teams on new tools, methods, and standards.
SAFETY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to, promote, and accept responsibility for compliance to Federal and Local Occupational Safety and Health Regulations, Industry Consensus Standards, and KGPCo Injury and Illness Prevention Program Manual.
- Participate in job site safety and hazard analysis.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical discipline required.
- 3-7 years of experience in a distribution, warehouse, or manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in process improvement, layout design, and operational analysis.
- Advanced proficiency with data analysis and modeling tools (Excel, Power BI, Access or equivalent).
- Experience with warehouse or ERP systems (Microsoft D365, Manhattan, SAP, or similar).
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Process Kaizen Engineering (PKE) and Performance Control System (PCS) disciplines or other continuous improvement methodologies; certification preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions, short communications, and memos; draft simple written correspondence; and effectively communicate in one-on-one or small group settings with customers, clients, and colleagues.
- Proficiency in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Capable of performing calculations involving American currency and standard units of weight, volume, and distance.
- The ability to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
