Materials Designer

We are looking for a Materials Designer for a 3-month onsite role in Beaverton, OR. This is an incredible opportunity to make a tangible impact by shaping the aesthetic and material narrative of highly anticipated products. You will be instrumental in defining the visual identity and tactile experience of cutting-edge consumer products, influencing trends, and connecting directly with consumers through innovative material choices. In this role, you will lead the design of materials, material palettes, creative vision, and strategies for specific product projects. You will maintain hands-on involvement in materials design and development throughout the product creation process, ensuring alignment with seasonal creative direction and various product priorities. This position offers a unique chance to leverage your passion for materials design, collaborate with diverse teams, and see your creative contributions come to life in products that resonate globally.

Responsibilities

* Leverage materials to establish a premium, recognizable, and consumer-relevant brand point of view through strategic vision, design direction, storytelling, and editing.

* Lead the design of materials, material palettes, creative vision, and strategies for specific product projects.

* Maintain hands-on involvement in materials design and development throughout the product creation process.

* Support seasonal creative direction and various product priorities.

* Collaborate effectively within the design team and with category partners, adapting to various working styles.

* Translate cultural and consumer knowledge/insights into compelling narratives and product executions.

* Participate in multiple projects simultaneously, managing competing resources and deadlines.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Design, Art, or a related field.

* 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in a design environment working with materials, textiles, and/or color.

* Demonstrated passion for Materials Design.

* Proficiency in holistic product design and method of make.

* Exceptional presentation skills and visual communication abilities.

* Strong consumer connection with relevant products.

* Highly organized and self-sufficient with the ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment.

* Proactive information seeker.

* Strong digital suite and CAD capabilities.

* A portfolio showcasing material and color-heavy work, highlighting your design process, is a must.

* 3+ years of experience as a Material Designer, specifically with apparel materials including textiles, leather, and various fabrics.

* Experience with material resources and the briefing process.

* Proven ability to work effectively with senior designers.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $48.00 to $54.00/hour. Compensation is based on several factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location
