Spectrum seeks a Leave of Absence Specialist to oversee and enhance leave programs, tackle complex issues, and collaborate across the organization for optimal solutions. How You'll Make an Impact
- Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience
- Administer leave programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal and state employment laws (FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc.)
- Oversee all aspects of leave programs and vendors, including case management and administrative processes of the cases and claims
- Collaborate with workers' compensation claims adjuster, medical professionals and legal counsel to support return-to-work or restricted duty
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the leave programs in alignment and under the general direction and guidance of HR leadership
- Partner closely with HR on all escalated leave cases, accommodations and workers' compensation claims
- Meet regularly with HR to review claims' status and develop strategies for resolution
- Make recommendation to HR in support of the interactive ADA process and the individual assessment of each ADA accommodation request
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, employees and third party administration vendor
- Provide leadership in the integration and implementation of complex programs, services and/or initiatives within the Leaves team
- Provide consultation, direction and support to business units and HR as it relates to the Leave of Absence Program
- Proactively seek information to stay current on regulatory and industry changes
- Partner with Benefits Team on changes to Charter's policy and plan design to improve LOA program and the administration of the plans
- Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations
- Lead special projects, as needed
- Perform other related duties, as needed
What You'll Bring to Spectrum Required Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in HR or related field or equivalent experience Experience 3+ years LOA and/or ADA experience in a large complex organization Skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the highest degree of professional standards
- Ability to work independently and work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks and prioritize and organize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with time-sensitive issues and to be self-directed with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical skills to compile and interpret data for reporting purposes, and presentation skills
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
- Demonstrated computer skills, especially spreadsheets, databases and word processing (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended business hours, weekends and holidays
- Demonstrated focus on providing quality service to internal and external customers
- Working knowledge of leave administration, including FMLA and ADA
- Demonstrated knowledge of Employment Laws related to Leave of Absence
- Knowledge of FMLA, ADAAA, Benefit Administration, Corporate HR and enterprise business
- Ability to make independent decisions relating to daily operations
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
- Operate in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive issues
- Handle multiple projects and tasks independently or as part of a team
