SUMMARY

The Film Specialist's role is to facilitate the copying of and payment for films and other diagnostic tests. Prepare film breakdowns for client cost approval and maintain the calendar of cost approval hold bins. The primary objective of the Film Specialist is to establish rapport and ongoing communication with radiology custodians to acquire the requested films and other diagnostic tests, or an affidavit of no x-rays by the ordering client's due date. The Film Clerk will ensure the accuracy of films and other diagnostic tests produced.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Establish contact and elicit production of films and other diagnostic tests by the custodian in accordance with the order due date and office closure procedures for month-end billing.
  • Enter status into the computer system to document all conversations with custodians, correspondence, and payments sent to custodians and/or clients.
  • Maintain an organized bin rotation of all work orders in your control, as defined by office procedure.
  • Prepare film breakdowns for cost approval and send to the client in a timely manner, as defined by office procedure.
  • Monitor the website daily for client film approvals, or films declined.
  • Respond quickly to client film requests, placing the order with the facility in a timely manner, as defined by office procedure.
  • Quality Control incoming films for subject identifying information, number of films requested versus what was received when matching to a work order and invoice.
  • Route work orders to QC Department in a timely manner, as defined by office procedure.
  • Report daily productivity numbers to management.
  • Perform internet research as needed to locate working phone/fax numbers or a physical address for business entities you are required to contact.
  • Maintain spreadsheets for custodians with large volume requests.
  • Assist with clerical duties in all departments as needed and assigned management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education and/or Experience



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college desirable but not required.
  • Prior work experience in an office setting preferably in a medical, legal, or an insurance claims office.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must be a qualified typist with a minimum of 45 W.P.M.
  • Must demonstrate a good understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Must demonstrate self-motivation and direction.
  • Ability to adapt to change and absorb new ideas and concepts quickly.
  • Must demonstrate good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Must demonstrate a good understanding of the internal processes of medical facilities and med-legal terminology.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to follow all company policies and procedures in effect at time of hire and as they may change or be added from time to time.
