Position Summary
The term Graduate Assistant is the umbrella term that encompasses all types of GA appointments. Graduate Assistants are employed by the University to teach, conduct research, or assist with administrative duties in departments and non-academic units. Every attempt is made to assign Graduate Assistants to positions that are directly related to the student's field of study or that provide the opportunity to develop transferable, professional skills. Graduate Assistantships are assigned in the department or unit and confirmed by the Graduate School.

Counseling & Psychological Services ( CAPS) at UNCG invites applications for three half-time (20 hour) graduate student trainee positions (advanced practicum/internship) each academic year. Campus Violence Response Center ( CVRC) at UNCG Invites applications for one half-time (20 hour) graduate student trainee position (advanced practicum/internship) each academic year. Applications are accepted from UNCG doctoral students in Clinical Psychology and Counseling and Counselor Education; UNCG master's students in Counselor Education, and joint UNCG- NCA&T master's students in Social Work. After a review of applications, individuals are selected to be interviewed by the Counseling & Psychological Services staff. Students from UNCG or NCA&T who are hired will be paid a stipend TBD and will work during the fall and spring semesters of the next academic year. This is an advanced placement and is not appropriate for students without clinical experience.

Counseling & Psychological Services ( CAPS) provides general counseling services to UNCG students addressing a diverse range of mental health and developmental concerns. Campus Violence Response Center ( CVRC) provides support to students who have experienced any form of violence and who primarily want to address trauma in treatment. Trainees will provide individual psychotherapy, group counseling, workshops, and outreach services. Supervision is provided weekly by a senior staff clinician and will also include group supervision opportunities. In addition, trainees will attend staff meetings, case conferences, and training seminars. Trainees will gain experience in most aspects of a university counseling center. Our clinically diverse staff members bring extensive clinical and supervision/training experience and truly enjoy working with trainees. Counseling & Psychological Services is a part of the Student Health Services on campus and works closely with several other departments within Student Affairs and across the campus.
Minimum Qualifications
To be eligible for appointments as a graduate assistant, you must:
* Maintain academic good standing at all times (3.0).
* Be enrolled full-time, which is generally a minimum of 9 credits.
* Make satisfactory progress toward your degree as defined by your academic program and the Graduate School.
* Meet the requirements to be eligible for employment in the U.S.
