As one of the largest departments in Washington County, the Department of Land Use & Transportation (LUT) is a knowledgeable, highly trained, and motivated group of more than 300 professionals, with an annual budget of over $579 million. As public servants, we work diligently towards the goals and visions of the community, the county, our department, and its five divisions: Planning and Development Services; Capital Project Services; Engineering, Traffic, and Survey; Operations and Maintenance; and Administrative Services.

The Position
The ET II classification covers a variety of assignments in the right-of-way permitting work group and this position will be expected to provide a wide range of duties to support the overall mission of the Division. This position will perform technical work associated with the review of right-of-way permit application documents, issuance of right-of-way permits, and field inspections of the permitted work to ensure permit compliance. As part of the position's general duties, the ET II will participate in emergency response activities which can include field assessment of damaged infrastructure or as support staff for the planning of emergency situations. Lastly, the ET II will assist and become familiar with all other functions of the Division including but not limited to evaluating "Service Requests" and providing technical and non-technical support to the Division and the Department.

Ideal Candidates
The ideal candidate works well both independently and as part of a team, with strong time management and communication skills. They have extensive experience inspecting all phases of infrastructure construction, including roads, bridges, culverts, excavation, drainage, and utilities, while providing guidance to Technician I staff. Preferred qualifications include ODOT certifications such as General Construction Inspector and Asphalt Concrete Inspector. The candidate is skilled in reviewing and providing feedback on plans and specifications, understands service requests and permitting processes, and demonstrates professionalism in resolving contentious issues.

Technicians should be proficient in roadway construction activities-such as excavation, paving, drainage, sidewalks, traffic control, and utilities-and capable of operating related tools and survey equipment.
