Description & Requirements
The Business Development Executive (BDE) serves as a growth leader in their assigned market working closely with the Managing Partner (MP) in the development and execution of the overall market growth strategy and providing direct business development and pursuit leadership for strategic prospects and clients. Primary areas of focus will include developing relationships and new business with organizations ranging from $200m privately-owned businesses to multi-billion-dollar public companies.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and nurture relationships with key executive buyers (CEO, CFO, CAO, Controller, Tax Director, Internal Audit, etc.) at identified target prospects and select clients. Key activities include facilitating conversations to understand critical business issues/strategic goals, identifying client service opportunities, and coordinating/facilitating follow-up meetings with subject matter teams
- Activities include developing and nurturing relationships with key executive buyers, listening to understand critical business issues/strategic goals, and identifying client service opportunities
- Provide leadership on strategic pursuits to position the firm to win through pursuit best practices, including:
- Pre-pursuit research, targeting and developing strategic pursuit plans
- Engaging and coordinating with necessary subject matter professionals
- Leading internal prep and strategy meetings for opportunity scoping and participating in/facilitating scoping and relationships development meetings with targets
- Coordinating with necessary market, industry and service line leadership on pursuit and resourcing strategies
- Leading and coordinating proposal response including developing proposal strategies, win themes and key messages/differentiators as part of pursuit approach
- Participating in oral presentations and follow-up meetings
- Providing negotiation/pricing strategy leadership as part of pursuit
- Coordinate with firm-wide teams across services and industries to drive collaboration and cross-serve opportunities with our clients
- Outside of direct strategic targeting efforts, serve as a face of the firm in the market, developing referral relationships and qualifying/leading opportunistic pursuits as they arise
- In coordination with the MP, lead/facilitate regular market growth meetings with key Market Industry and Service Line leaders, coordinating market growth efforts and strategic pursuits
- Participate in trade organization and relevant business networks to build relationships in the community in alignment with market growth strategy
- Provide ongoing business development coaching to Partners, Managing Directors, Directors and Senior Managers
- Collaborate extensively with other BDEs around the firm to drive synergies and to share best practices to expand your skillsets and enhance the overall culture and capabilities of the Business Development team
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field
- 8+ years of experience in professional services sales and/or relationship management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools
- Subject matter knowledge and understanding of industries including but not limited to Commercial Products, Technology & Services, Private Equity, and Construction & Real Estate, among others
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience working in the public accounting and consulting industry
- Experience operating in a business development and relationship development capacity at a Top 10 public accounting or consulting firm
- Proven experience leading and facilitating teams through sales methodologies and processes, and representative experience meeting and exceeding annual business development goals
Illinois Wage Transparency
Pursuant to Illinois' Equal Pay Act, the salary range displayed is for the Illinois market. The salary for this role will be based on the experience, education, and skill set of the individual for the position. Non-exempt/hourly positions will be eligible for time and half pay for employees that work over 40 hours in a workweek. Benefits are eligibility-based and could include group health plan benefits, 401(K), bonuses, profit-sharing contributions, flexible time off, and parental leave.
