Job Type: Full-time with No supervisory responsibility

Experience: Minimum 3 years

Reports to: Division Controller

Wage: $60- $70K Annually (based on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary:

The Staff Cost Accountant is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing company. This position will assume daily and month-end accounting tasks related to Inventory and Aggregates and will be based out of our corporate office in New Hampton, IA. The ideal candidate will have three years of accounting experience, strong analytical and processing skills, and will be team-oriented with excellent communication skills. Experience in a construction-related field would be beneficial. This is a full-time position, reports to the Division Controller and has no supervisory responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules, and projects.
  • Be aware of and familiar with the Company Handbook.
  • Actively participate in any recommended or mandatory training.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management, as this job description is non-exhaustive.
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring & maintaining proper back-up documentation
  • Collect, review and post data from operations
  • Coordinate inventory counts, adjustments and valuations.
  • Reconciliation of material and hauler invoices and statements.
  • ERP Data Maintenance (inventory codes, quotes, hauler vendors, inventory transfers)
  • Aggregate Production tracking.
  • Royalty payment reconciliations.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts
  • Contribute to the team effort by meeting monthly close and other deadlines
  • Assist with year-end audits and regulatory filings
  • Analyze, report and validate key data with spreadsheets or software solution programs
  • Perform other duties as apparent or assigned
  • Cross-train with applicable positions


Position Requirements:



  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment background check and drug test
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; or applicable experience
  • PC proficiency (specifically Microsoft applications) and strong Excel skills
  • Proactive self-starter with strong organizational skills and reasoning abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with management, field operations and co-workers in a professional manner
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Trainable and motivated to exceed expectations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal controls and regulations
  • Be prompt and timely for all assigned schedules and projects. Willing to work until 5 pm and sometimes outside of normal business hours.
