Manager, Electrical Engineering

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Manager, Electrical Engineering position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.



Job Summary:

The Manager, Electrical Engineering will oversee and manage the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and components. This position is responsible for leading a team of engineers, providing guidance and ensuring projects meet technical specifications and regulatory standards. Also, this position involves project management from inception to completion, including budget management and timeline adherence. Close collaboration is required with cross-functional teams to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into larger projects, ensuring robust quality assurance throughout.



Primary Responsibilities:


  1. Team Leadership:Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, ensuring they deliver high-quality designs and solutions that meet project requirements.
  2. Project Oversight:Provide oversight and management of electrical engineering projects from initiation through to completion, including budget management and timeline adherence.
  3. Technical Guidance:Offer technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex engineering challenges, ensuring innovative and efficient solutions. Areas of focus can include, but are not limited to System Architecture, Software, Firmware and Hardware.
  4. Quality Assurance:Establish and enforce rigorous quality assurance processes for electrical designs and implementations to uphold performance standards and regulatory compliance.
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration:Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into larger projects
  6. Confers with management and reviews project proposals and plans in the development of project objectives.
  7. Studies product design, customer requirements, performance standards and completes technical studies to determine product specifications.
  8. Prioritizes activities when there is a conflict in resources required.
  9. Interacts with customers, representatives, sales personnel, marketing personnel, quality and manufacturing personnel, and test personnel to evaluate product application and materials.
  10. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, seminars and conferences.
  11. Maintains confidentiality of all information processed.
  12. Recruits, selects, orients, and trains employees in assigned areas of responsibility.
  13. Responsible for employee development and training, including coaching, counseling, and performance feedback.
  14. Coordinates leaves and schedule of staff.
  15. Responds to corrective action issues within the department and manages the department budget.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment:

Work will be performed in an office environment or an industrial setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit, and use hands. Some travel domestically and internationally as required.



Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical, or scientific discipline. Eight years post-degree experience with at least one year of supervisory or project management experience. Demonstrated expertise in multiple areas of advanced electrical engineering encompassing circuit design, programming, manufacturing, and project management.



PREFERRED: BSEE Professional Engineering Registration. Master's degree in a related technical field or management. Knowledge of CAD. Background with manufacturing business system software.
