How You'll Contribute:


The Accounting Manager will be a key member of the revenue accounting team and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the company's revenue reporting directly impacting the financial well-being of the organization.


We are seeking a skilled and detail-driven Accounting Manager with expertise in project-based or construction revenue recognition to lead financial reporting and compliance across multiple large-scale projects. This role is responsible for managing job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and ensuring timely, accurate revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP (ASC 606).


You will play a critical role in partnering with project managers, operations, and internal finance teams to ensure financial data integrity, compliance, and operational insight.



What You'll Do:


Revenue Recognition & Compliance


* Lead GAAP-compliant revenue recognition processes, including percentage-of-completion (POC) under ASC 606.


* Manage and update the Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, including cost-to-complete estimates and earned revenue.


* Collaborate with PMs and FP&A to review forecasts, change orders, and contract amendments affecting revenue.


* Collaborate with Finance Operations team to monitor billing schedules and project milestones to ensure correct timing of revenue and cost recognition.


* Ensure ongoing compliance with internal controls related to revenue processes.



Project & Job Cost Accounting


* Maintain accurate job cost tracking and project-level P&L statements.


* Review budgets, actuals, and perform margin variance analysis.


* Collaborate with Finance Operations team to validate coding of costs to the correct jobs, phases, and categories.


* Support project closeouts, including final billings and reconciliations.



Month-End Close & Financial Reporting


* Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities for POC revenue recognition accounting.


* Prepare key reports: margin analysis, backlog reports.


* Support external and internal audits with documentation and analysis.



Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration


* Supervise and mentor revenue accountant or staff supporting projects.


* Collaborate with operations and project managers to align project data with financial reporting.


* Drive process improvements related to revenue recognition reporting.



Additional Responsibilities


* Analyze revenue accounts for accuracy and investigate discrepancies.


* Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and uploads to the ERP system.


* Partner with internal teams to maintain project data hygiene and resolve cost transfer or closeout issues.


* Assist with audit preparation and support compliance with contract terms.


* Participate in ongoing process optimization and systems improvements.



What You'll Bring:


Required Skills/Qualifications:


* 5+ years of accounting experience in the construction or project-based industry, with demonstrated experience in revenue recognition, job costing, and WIP management. Deep knowledge of ASC 606, GAAP, and percentage-of-completion accounting.


* Familiarity with project contracts, change orders, and billing schedules.


* Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, LOOKUPs, financial modeling).


* ERP experienced (Microsoft D365 preferred).


* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of identifying and resolving root causes.


* Excellent communication skills - able to clearly explain accounting matters to non-financial colleagues.


* Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume environments with shifting priorities.


* Comfortable working independently and collaboratively.


* High attention to detail and strong sense of accountability.



Preferred Skills/Qualifications:


* Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.


* CPA, CMA, or similar certification (or actively pursuing) preferred.
