Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Associate Conflict Navigation Specialist in the Office of Workplace Culture to join the Employee Partners for Conflict Transformation (EmPaCT) team. Reporting to the Manager of Conflict Transformation, this role helps cultivate a respectful, collaborative workplace environment by providing conflict navigation services, skill-building opportunities, and proactive support for faculty and staff across the university.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Facilitates engaging workshops and trainings for teams and departments, focusing on conflict navigation, communication skills, and strategies to strengthen collaboration and trust.
- Leads group interventions designed to de-escalate conflict, rebuild working relationships, and upskill teams in handling difficult situations.
- Provides a respectful, safe, and neutral environment for employees to share concerns and work toward solutions.
- Delivers timely and effective conflict management services, including individual coaching, mediation, facilitated conversations, and group learning sessions.
- Coaches supervisors and employees on building positive workplace culture, managing team dynamics, and navigating difficult conversations with empathy and clarity.
- Explains relevant university policies and processes, ensuring employees understand available resources, and make referrals to appropriate offices as needed.
- Triages and manages casework efficiently, identify pathways for resolution, and apply university policies and guidelines appropriately.
- Maintains accurate records and communications while collaborating closely with the EmPaCT team.
- Conducts proactive outreach to raise awareness of EmPaCT's mission and promote its services across the Rutgers community.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through January 31, 2026. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 years of relevant experience in conflict management/mediation, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

- Commitment to cultivating inclusive, respectful, and equitable workplace cultures.

- Undergraduate, graduate and/or professional certificates in conflict coaching, conflict or dispute resolution, mediation, or related fields.
- Leadership development and/or coaching certifications and experience.
- Experience facilitating group workshops and trainings.

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
