Who we are and what we do:

The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation/parole offices in 13 districts across the state.

How you make a difference in this role:

The Investigation Unit Director position is assigned to the Office of Investigation and Conduct's (OIC) Investigations Unit (IU) and is the law enforcement branch of the TDOC. The Director has oversight of a statewide team of Special Agents in Charge and Special Agents who possess statewide law enforcement authority and conduct both criminal and administrative investigations of offenses relative to or affecting the TDOC.

The Investigation Unit Director directly supervises three (3) regional Special Agents in Charge and oversees a statewide unit.

Key Responsibilities:

• Make criminal arrests and serve outstanding criminal warrants and summons
• Conduct criminal and administrative investigations
• Assist other law enforcement agencies by providing information and assisting in criminal investigations related to TDOC interests
• Appear in court to give testimony
• Prepares affidavits for criminal search warrants and or administrative subpoenas
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience as a police officer, correction, or probation/parole officer.
• Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a law enforcement setting is preferred.
• Experience performing or instructing in criminal investigation work in a government setting, law enforcement, professional criminal law, and/or similar related field may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
