The School of Nursing at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Temporary Nurse Interventionist.

About the Opportunity

This position will assist with subject screening and enrollment while remaining blinded to group assignments. The individual will receive training to conduct home visits, deliver the home palliative care nursing interventions, and coordinate data collection according to study timelines. Responsibilities also include participating in research team meetings, completing the Helpfulness Questionnaire at 12 months, and joining the rural stakeholders' focus group to discuss sustainability plans. Prior experience as a research assistant is preferred. Employment in this position is on a casual basis, 5 hours per week.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with subject screening and enrollment, including calling and enrolling eligible participants.
  • Serve as a nurse interventionist. For each assignment, the nurse will:
    • Complete two home visits and two follow-up phone calls.
    • Oversee intervention activities conducted by the community volunteer (via phone).
  • Respond to participant and volunteer inquiries, and monitor/report any data safety issues to the Project Manager or PI/Co-I.
  • Conduct educational telephone calls with participants at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months.
  • Complete observation notes for all interactions and visits.
  • Assist with data entry, document organization, and general reporting.
  • Contribute to discussions on research progress, and potential barriers.
  • Collect data from participants, including surveys and interviews.

Pay Grade: 13
Length of Assignment: Approximately 12 months
Work Hours: 5 hours per week

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN required). Bachelor's preferred.

  • Completion of the Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Course.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of research experience.
  • Completion of CITI Training and certification in Human Subjects Protection.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Compassion in nursing care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage project priorities.
  • Ability to interpret documents and present information effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Microsoft Words and EXCEL).
Requirements

* Valid driver's license.
* Current WV RN license or ability to obtain with 2 months of being hired.
