Job Description

Energy Transfer is a master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest and most diversified portfolios of energy assets in the United States. In total, the Company owns and operates approximately 120,000 miles of natural gas, crude oil, refined products, and natural gas liquids pipelines, terminals, and acquisition and marketing assets which are used to facilitate the purchase and sale of crude oil, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and refined products.

Internship program starts on May 2026 - 12 weeks. Preferably Junior. You must be enrolled in college during the program

Summary:

The successful candidate will work within the Energy Transfer Credit Risk Management group, reporting to the Manager - Credit Risk Management. The intern will assist with daily credit activities, exposure monitoring, special projects, and communication with counterparties and internal teams including Legal, Commercial, and Accounting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Data Analysis

    1. Assist in gathering, organizing, and cleaning data used in credit reviews and reporting.

    2. Learn how credit information flows between systems and how it supports decision-making.

  2. Portfolio Monitoring

    1. Support the monitoring of Energy Transfer's credit portfolio by reviewing exposure levels, payment trends, and relevant market information.

  3. Risk Assessment

    1. Assist in evaluating credit risk associated with commercial transactions and counterparties.

    2. Help identify potential concerns and escalate as needed.

  4. Risk Mitigation

    1. Learn about various credit risk mitigation strategies and support the team in executing methods such as letters of credit, parental guarantees, and credit insurance.

  5. Report Generation

    1. Help prepare periodic credit reports, presentations, and summaries for internal stakeholders.

    2. Review and validate data used in reporting.

  6. Collaboration

    1. Work closely with the Credit Risk Management team and partner with cross-functional groups including Commercial, Accounting, Contracts, and Legal.

    2. Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions.

  7. Ad Hoc Projects

    1. Assist with special projects and research initiatives to support ongoing improvements within the Credit Risk Management department.


Required Skills (External)

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Sophomore or Junior standing preferred (seniors eligible if returning to school after the internship).
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with numerical data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with data tools (Power BI, Tableau, SQL) is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a team environment
