Overview

Responsibilities

As a part-time, on-call Strategic Operations Lead for Border Security Initiatives with AMERICAN SYSTEMS you will have the opportunity to do the following:

    Provide expert guidance on organizational strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation within a border security context.
  • Use deep operational knowledge to lead the development, refinement, and communication of strategic roadmaps that align with agency and national security goals.
  • Analyze trends and emerging threats to inform long-term operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, e.g., components, offices, federal agencies, industry partners, ensuring alignment and integration of best practices.
  • Design and facilitate workshops and strategy sessions to identify and prioritize mission-focused initiatives across immediate, mid-term, and future horizons.
  • Develop and implement metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for effective tracking of strategic goals and accountability.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in risk management, resource allocation, and scenario planning to optimize resource readiness and mission effectiveness.
  • Advise leadership on the integration and potential impact of advanced technologies within operational strategies.
  • Serve as a primary liaison for operational units, facilitating communication and alignment between field operations and headquarters.
  • Oversee and support the acquisition, deployment, and fielding of new capability solutions, ensuring effective feedback and reporting mechanisms.
  • Collect operational feedback, document best practices, and produce actionable reports and briefings for senior leadership and stakeholders.


Qualifications

  • CBP BI or Top Secret Clearance Required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in CBP and strategic planning, acquisition, and system integration.
  • Proficiency in capability gap analysis, cost analysis, and acquisition documentation.
  • Understanding of Systems acquisition lifecycle (e.g. ALF and MD-102).
  • Familiarity with IEEE standard 1012, IEEE Standard 829-1998, and the DHS SELC.
  • Excellent writing, communications and briefing skills.

Note: This is a part-time, on-call role with fewer than 1,040 hours per year. The targeted hourly rate is $72/hour, based on qualifications and experience.



Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $113,400.00/Yr. - USD $189,300.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
