Apply today to be a Extruder Assistant with one of the most innovative and trusted packaging companies. Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Extruder Assistant for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. This will be a 3/2 rotating night shift schedule from 7pm-7am: Sun/Wed/Thurs; Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat.

Additional $2.50 premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am. Any hours worked outside of 7pm-7am will not receive the premium.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Extruder Operator with overall machine operations and maintenance

  • Prepare, load, and manage rolls for lamination on both primary and secondary unwinds

  • Monitor and maintain resin supply, ensuring proper placement and stocking

  • Handle material waste management, including weighing, removal, and baling

  • Clean and maintain equipment, particularly NIP roll during setup and downtime

  • Perform daily housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and organized workspace

  • Meet quality standards and production goals while minimizing waste

  • Train other assistants on essential job functions

  • Ensure safety protocols are followed during all operations

  • Communicate effectively with other departments regarding mechanical issues, materials, and shift information

  • Support job changeovers and preparations as needed

  • Maintain accurate documentation of production activities and material usage

Education & Experience:

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Demonstrated stable work history

  • Problem-solving capabilities

  • Manufacturing experience preferred

Required Skills:

  • Basic computer proficiency including email

  • Ability to accurately read and use measuring tools

  • Self-directed and task-oriented with the ability to multitask

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Good organizational skills

  • Basic math and measurement skills

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions

  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift materials as required

  • Good communication skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Drug screening required

  • Background check required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of extrusion processes and equipment

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures

  • Understanding of quality control standards

  • Knowledge of material handling procedures

  • Basic mathematical concepts and measurements

  • Understanding of inventory management principles

  • Ability to accurately read and use measuring tools

  • Strong time management capabilities

  • Understand Basic equipment maintenance and cleaning

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:

  • Capability to lift and move up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to climb, kneel, bend, and squat

  • Proficiency in grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor skills

  • Manual dexterity for machine operation and maintenance

  • Ability to climb ladders safely

  • Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacks

Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:

  • Noise levels above 80 dB

  • Operation of complex machinery

  • Solvents, fumes and inks

  • Variable Temperatures

  • Must be able to work flexible shifts

  • May require nights, weekends, and holidays.
