Description and Requirements

About Our Team

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Cloud Solutions Architect to join our Azure platform team. This role is crucial to our business as you will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud-based solutions to meet the needs of the business. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging AI trends. You will work closely with business teams to ensure the architecture is aligned with business requirements. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams.

Location: Chicago, IL,

Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)


What You'll Do

*Establish governance frameworks, including Azure Policies, RBAC, and tagging strategies.

*Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC Type II.

*Lead cloud governance & ensure compliance with Azure Well-Architected Framework & the Cloud Adoption Framework.

*Design architectures with a focus on high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.

*Design and implement backup strategies using Azure Backup and Recovery Services.

*Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.

*Monitor and enhance system performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.

*Create and maintain clear, up-to-date technical documentation.


Basic Qualifications

*Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology

* 10+ years of experience in cloud architecture and solution design.

* Experience with Azure Kubernetes and Azure Container Apps.

* Akami or Cloudflare experience.

*Proven experience with cloud governance, multi-cloud deployments, automation, scalable cloud solutions, and SDLC.

* Azure Networking experience (Virtual networks, Subnets, Private endpoints, delegations, VPNs, ExpressRoute, and load balancers, etc.)

* Azure Operations experience (Infrastructure Monitoring, SOC activities, AI monitoring).


Preferred Qualifications

*Certifications in Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or other cloud technologies are highly desirable.

*Microsoft Azure Zero Trust Environments (Managed Identities, federated cloud services)

*Microsoft Sentinel + Microsoft Defender for Cloud

*Strong KQL understanding and query writing.

*Familiarity of Redis and Azure PostgreSQL.

*DevOps pipelines and deployment best practices.

*Understanding of Application Gateway, Firewall configuration and maintenance.

*Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Policy as Code (PaC), configuration management, production support (Bicep, etc).

*Demonstrated experience in leading cloud migration and automation initiatives at scale.

*Vendor management and contract negotiation skills.

*Experience with reviewing PowerShell, NodeJS, Python, Java based tools and applications for viability of running in container+cloud-based environments.

*Familiarity CI/CD concepts such as Jenkins, Gerritt/Git.

* Confluence and Jira experience.

*Experience writing Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.


The base salary range budgeted for this position is $185,000 - $200,000. Individuals may also be considered for bonus and/or commission.
