Job Description
Elwyn seeks a Residential Services Assistant to be responsible for the general daily care of program clients. This role provides counseling and advocacy in a therapeutic setting, assisting young adult through geriatric clients with chronic mental illness and co-occurring disorders to achieve social, economic, emotional, and personal independence in order to live in the community. Responsibilities:
- Provide general daily care and support to program clients.
- Offer counseling and advocacy in a therapeutic setting.
- Assist clients in achieving social, economic, emotional, and personal independence.
- Work under the supervision of an Associate Clinician at all times.
- Understand and intervene therapeutically in cases of mental illness, utilizing knowledge of DSM classifications and conditions.
- Empower clients through advocacy and skill-building.
- Exercise good judgment and decision-making, particularly during crisis situations.
- Monitor prescribed medications and follow state-specific medication guidelines.
- Maintain client records in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and modify treatment plans based on comprehensive client assessments.
- Ensure clients live in a safe and clean environment.
- Provide psychoeducational services to clients and their families as required.
- Meet productivity standards in fee-for-service programs.
- Integrate the Prism Model for effective treatment of serious and persistent mental illness into everyday practice and clinical intervention.
- Regularly read Elwyn emails to stay informed of pertinent work information.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Computer literacy, including experience with keyboarding, email, internet, and computerized health record systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with internal and external customers by being courteous and helpful. Demonstrates appreciation and respect for customers' needs, expectations, and perspectives.
- Proficiency in expressing oneself clearly in conversations and interactions with others.
- Ability to achieve work objectives systematically, efficiently, and timely.
- Capacity to achieve work objectives under frequent pressures, deadlines, and productivity demands.
- Ability to use good judgment and discretion with minimal guidance or supervision.
- Ability to develop alternative solutions and uses resources creatively to address existing or anticipated work problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers.
- Willingness to participate as a team member to improve the overall effectiveness of the work group and achieve group goals.
