JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Northampton County 4-H program is seeking applicants for the part-time job of the Northampton County 4-H Embryology Assistant.

Job duties to include:

  • Support the current 4-H Embryology program in the local elementary schools and aim to expand its reach in the county.
  • Enhance program quality through training and support for teachers involved with the program, with particular emphasis on teachers new(er) to the program.
  • Work with the Northampton County 4-H team to plan, deliver, and evaluate the 4-H program.
  • Support 4-H program marketing and promotion for outreach to new schools/audiences across Northampton County.
  • Assist in the procurement of financial material donations for use in the 4-H program, including assisting with the annual Northampton County 4-H Tree Sale fundraiser.
  • Serve as a member of the 4-H staff team providing support to the general 4-H program as requested.
  • Assist the 4-H Extension Educator in reaching new audiences in accordance with the Penn State University Affirmative Action Policy.
  • Observe the operation of the Penn State Extension Office in Northampton County and gain an understanding of this youth development career for advancement.

Requirements, qualifications, and/or competencies:

  • Possess an understanding of youth development and be able to effectively teach and interact with youth.
  • Possess knowledge of educational principles and presentation preparation skills.
  • Familiarity with the 4-H Program is preferred.
  • Completed or enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in youth development, education, science, engineering, volunteer development or another related field.
  • Possess good communication skills needed for group presentations and individual communication with members, parents, leaders, teachers and agency staff.
  • Possess organizational and record keeping skills.
  • Possess computer skills for creating documents and marketing pieces.
  • Must have valid Pennsylvania driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Successful applicants will not be able to start work until clearances to work with minors have been received.
  • Applicant must be willing to work flexible hours.

Schedule:

  • Part time - January 2026-June 1, 2026, approximately 24 hours/week

Compensation:

The starting rate for this job is $15.00/hour.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
