The Opportunity: We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our executive team as the Vice President of Payer Partnerships. This is a critical leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the national strategy for DaVita's commercial payer relationships. The Payer Partnerships team oversees a multi-billion dollar commercial revenue portfolio and a rapidly expanding national integrated care business. This is a highly motivated, fast-paced team with deep expertise in negotiations, managed care, finance, and strategy. As the Vice President, you will be at the forefront of DaVita's strategy to grow as payors' partner of choice for kidney care. You will foster a collaborative, high-performance culture with a strong focus on professional and personal growth for your team. As the Vice President of Payer Partnerships, you will have extensive C-suite and senior leadership interaction across the DaVita Village, including Operations, Finance, Strategy, and M&A. This role provides exceptional visibility and the opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of our business. RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive.
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive, long-term national strategy for payer contracting, partnerships, and value-based care initiatives that align with DaVita's overall corporate objectives. Define and oversee the strategic direction for a national portfolio of payer relationships and contracts, driving portfolio growth, yield, and innovative partnership models.
- Executive Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain executive-level relationships with key national and strategic payers. Act as the primary executive liaison and thought partner for senior operational leaders, including Group and Division Vice Presidents.
- High-Stakes Negotiations: Lead the most complex and high-value payer negotiations, including national agreements, innovative value-based care arrangements, and critical contract renewals or terminations. Provide strategic direction and oversight to a team of negotiators, ensuring successful outcomes that align with business objectives.
- Financial & Business Acumen: Own the financial performance and P&L implications of the payer contract portfolio. Develop and approve sophisticated financial models and proposals to support complex negotiations and long-term business objectives.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Directors and Managers. Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Position has full supervisory responsibility for recruitment, hiring, performance management, and career development of direct reports.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive enterprise-wide alignment on payer strategy by building strong relationships with senior leaders across Operations, Legal, Finance, Strategy, and other key business units.
- Market Strategy & Innovation: Analyze market trends and the evolving healthcare landscape to identify and champion new strategic growth opportunities, innovative payment models, and creative solutions to overcome negotiation barriers.
- Executive Communication: Develop and deliver compelling presentations and communication materials for C-suite and Board-level audiences to articulate strategy, report on performance, and secure buy-in for key initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 12+ years of progressive experience in complex deal execution, healthcare strategy, and relationship management.
- Minimum of 8 years of direct experience in payer contracting, network management, or managed care is required.
- Bachelor's degree is required; MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of leading high-stakes negotiations and managing a large, complex portfolio of healthcare contracts.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of formal leadership experience, with demonstrated success in managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Exceptional financial acumen and experience with complex financial modeling and analysis.
- Sophisticated understanding of the healthcare landscape, particularly managed care, value-based contracting, and provider/payer dynamics.
- Exceptional executive presence and high-impact oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and drive results in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Travel: Up to 30%

The Salary Range for the role is $200,000.00 - $292,000.00/year.
