DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Transportation Planning Specialist 1, you will be responsible for a wide range of professional tasks that support the Planning and Programming Unit. You will assist with the development and maintenance of statewide transportation plans and programs, generate reports, and collaborate with local agencies. You will facilitate project selection and submission of annual grant and discretionary funding programs, track awarded project funding, and provide project leadership to metropolitan and rural planning organizations. This role requires strong organizational and analytical skills to develop the Twelve-Year Program (TYP), Transportation Improvement Programs (TIPs), and Long-Range Transportation Plans (LRTP) for the Metropolitan and Rural Planning Organizations. In addition, you will provide regional operational oversight by attending meetings and developing management actions, serve on steering committees, and participate in statewide task forces as requested. - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in District 10-0. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Transportation Planning Specialist Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of professional transportation planning or transportation programming experience and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, planning, computer science, or geography; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
