Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Windows serves as a key creative leader within Macy's Visual Merchandising organization and is based at Macy's Herald Square. They oversee Macy's award-winning window programs, ensuring exceptional storytelling, craftsmanship, and brand representation. This role manages seasonal and campaign window installations for Herald Square and five to six additional flagship stores, partnering with Creative, Production, Marketing, and Store Visual teams to deliver best-in-class flagship windows that inspire customers and support the brand strategy.

What You Will Do

Creative & Presentation Execution



  • Deliver compelling seasonal and campaign-driven window presentations across Herald Square and assigned flagship locations.
  • Translate creative concepts into executable plans, ensuring accuracy in design, storytelling, and brand consistency.
  • Review, interpret, and, when needed, create or refine digital renderings, sketches, and layout plans to clearly communicate design intent.
  • Conduct regular virtual walkthroughs of flagship executions, providing feedback on craftsmanship and alignment to creative direction.
  • Oversee on-site Herald Square window installations, including staging, styling, prop placement, and final detailing.


Project Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration



  • Lead seasonal planning for flagship window programs, including production timelines, logistics, prop management, and installation sequencing.
  • Partner with Creative, Production, Visual, Marketing, and Store Leadership teams to ensure alignment on seasonal window strategies.
  • Support vendor and fabrication partner relationships by reviewing prototypes, renderings, and technical drawings for accuracy and feasibility.
  • Coordinate with regional Visual teams to ensure consistent execution across all flagship locations.


Flagship Leadership & Field Support



  • Serve as a visual subject matter expert and advisor to flagship window teams nationwide.
  • Provide hands-on creative guidance, technical support, and constructive feedback to Visual Managers at flagship stores.
  • Lead seasonal travel to flagship locations for walkthroughs, installation preparation, and major seasonal or holiday initiatives.


Operational & Administrative Responsibilities



  • Oversee and maintain Herald Square prop inventory, window assets, and storage organization.
  • Manage budgets for Herald Square and assigned flagship window programs, ensuring adherence to financial and creative scope.
  • Prepare recaps, reports, and presentation materials for leadership review, including digital documentation and image libraries.
  • Ensure all window presentations comply with safety guidelines and operational standards.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.



Skills You Will Need

Creative Direction & Storytelling - Ability to translate brand strategy and creative concepts into compelling, high-impact window presentations that showcase exceptional storytelling, craftsmanship, and visual consistency across flagship locations.

Visual Merchandising & Craftsmanship Expertise - Deep knowledge of large-scale window execution, materials, prop styling, lighting, and finishing details, with a strong eye for quality, precision, and brand representation.

Design & Visualization Proficiency - Skilled in reviewing, interpreting, and creating digital renderings, sketches, and layout plans; proficient in tools such as SketchUp, Vectorworks, Adobe Creative Suite, and other 2D/3D visualization software.

Project Management & Execution - Proven ability to manage complex, seasonal programs end to end, including timelines, logistics, production sequencing, vendor coordination, and on-site installation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration - Strong partnership skills to align Creative, Production, Visual, Marketing, Store Leadership, and external vendors around shared goals and execution standards.

Technical & Production Acumen - Strong capability to read and interpret technical drawings, build specifications, and production documentation to ensure feasibility, safety, and execution accuracy.

Communication & Presentation Skills - Clear, confident communicator with the ability to provide feedback, conduct walkthroughs, and present recaps, reports, and visual documentation to leadership.

Technology Awareness & Adaptability - Awareness of emerging tools and technologies, including AI-assisted design, smart lighting, motion elements, interactive displays, and digital prototyping; ability to adapt quickly to evolving creative and production platforms.

Operational Rigor & Safety Compliance - Strong understanding of operational standards, safety guidelines, and compliance requirements for large-scale, in-store installations.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. 5-7+ years of experience in Visual Merchandising, Window Display, Scenic Design, or a related creative field; flagship or luxury experience strongly preferred.
  • This position requires heavy lifting, constant moving, remaining in a stationary position, and reaching with arms and hands. Involves remaining in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 30 lbs. stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. May involve reaching above eye level. Requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on department and company needs.
  • Able to travel seasonally to flagship locations.
