Behavioral Health Specialist I (BHS I) - Home-Based

Summary

The BHS I provides direct ABA services to children (ages 2-8+) in a home-based setting. Working under the IBT Coordinator and Clinical Director, this role focuses on implementation, observation, and documentation of individualized behavior plans while ensuring child safety and engagement.

All staff are expected to model Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence, along with key success factors like collaboration, trust, and patient-focused care.

Core Responsibilities

Direct Care & Safety

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment
  • Actively engage with children throughout sessions
  • Implement ABA treatment plans in the home setting
  • Interrupt aggressive or self-stimulatory behaviors using approved interventions
  • Support daily routines, ADLs, and hygiene skills

Behavioral Support & ABA Implementation

  • Follow and carry out individualized behavior plans
  • Collect and track data (discrete trial + incidental teaching)
  • Adapt approach based on each child's needs
  • Reinforce appropriate behaviors and set consistent therapeutic limits

Documentation & Communication

  • Complete daily progress notes and required documentation
  • Report incidents and concerns promptly to Clinical Director
  • Communicate regularly with IBT Coordinator and treatment team
  • Participate in treatment planning and team meetings

Crisis Management & Professionalism

  • Respond to crisis situations using least restrictive interventions
  • Maintain professional boundaries with families
  • Model appropriate interactions at all times

Team Collaboration & Growth

  • Participate in care planning and treatment reviews
  • Share observations and contribute to team discussions
  • Attend trainings, staff meetings, and development opportunities
  • Seek and apply feedback to improve performance

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation (home-based sessions)
  • Current CPR certification -will be certified during training if not certified.
  • Maintain OSHA, safety, and required hospital certifications
  • Adherence to all hospital, departmental, and program policies

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

Pursuing or attainment of Baccalaureate Degree in a Human Service or related field. Other education and experience considered and may be substituted for educational requirements at the discretion of the Hiring Manager. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process

Reliable transportation required.

EXPERIENCE:Experience working with young children preferred.Training will be provided regarding principles of ABA, positive reinforcement, confidentiality and crisis management.Current CPR certification.Current ERS, OSHA and Safety Certification.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None

Pay Range:

$18.13-$29.90
