Description

Position Summary

The Chief of Staff plays a pivotal role in supporting the CEO-who brings a disciplined, mission-oriented approach from their Marine Corps experience-and the executive leadership team during a critical period of growth and transformation, particularly through M&A activities. This strategic position is responsible for enhancing operational efficiency, facilitating communication across the C-Suite, and ensuring alignment of organizational objectives with a focus on teamwork and strategic execution. This position is designed to be an 18-24 month intensive introduction to AA&D, with the successful candidate moving into a long-term role in the business commensurate with their technical and leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Support to the CEO



  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, providing insights and analysis to inform decision-making and strategic planning, while embodying the leadership principles and mission focus typical of military service.
  • Facilitate the CEO's agenda by prioritizing and managing key initiatives, meetings, and communications, ensuring a disciplined approach to organizational goals.


C-Suite Collaboration



  • Work closely with the executive leadership team to foster collaboration and ensure alignment on strategic priorities, particularly during M&A and AOP activities, leveraging a strong sense of teamwork and shared purpose.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental projects and initiatives, ensuring effective communication and resource allocation in a manner that reflects the commitment to excellence required in a mission-first, people-always culture.


Operational Efficiency



  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies across the organization, particularly in the context of integration and transition during M&A, applying a strategic mindset honed through disciplined planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with business and functional leaders to develop, implement and continuously improve operating cadence, practices, and procedures that support organizational goals and enhance overall performance.


Project Management



  • Lead and manage critical projects related to integration of recent and future acquisitions, to ensure smooth, successful transitions and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and provide regular updates to the CEO and C-Suite, ensuring accountability and rigorous tracking of outcomes.


Communication and Stakeholder Engagement



  • Serve as a liaison between the CEO, executive team, and other stakeholders to ensure clear and effective communication.
  • Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and reports for the CEO and executive meetings, emphasizing clarity, precision, and strategic focus.


Team Development and Leadership



  • Mentor and develop staff within the organization, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance, reflective of the leadership principles articulated by the leadership team.
  • Support talent acquisition and development initiatives to build a strong leadership team committed to the organization's mission and values.



Position Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a leadership role, with significant experience in corporate strategy, operations, or project management.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects and driving organizational change, particularly in high-growth or M&A environments.


Preferred:



  • Experience in industries undergoing significant transformations, preferably in but not limited to aerospace or defense.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization, demonstrating the ability to lead effectively in high-pressure situations
