Location: Sarasota, FL (Travel Required)

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Compensation Range: $185,000 - $225,000, plus discretionary bonus.

What We Are Looking For

Ceres Environmental Services, Inc. is hiring an experienced Senior Engineering Project Manager - Civil to join our team at our Sarasota, FL corporate headquarters. This role reports directly to the CEO.

You will oversee large scale environmental, heavy-civil infrastructure projects from planning through close out activities. This role provides overall accountability for safety, schedule, budget, quality, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder coordination across multi-disciplinary project teams and field operations.

As a Senior Engineering Project Manager, you will initially manage a high-risk, environmentally sensitive project involving earthwork, debris removal, dredging, hauling, temporary sites, and restoration activities, in regulated or water-adjacent environments. This will require you to be onsite in Lake Adger, NC.

Key Responsibilities include:

Project Leadership & Execution



  • Lead all phases of the project lifecycle including pre-construction planning, mobilization, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and technical specifications.
  • Provide strategic oversight across multiple workstreams, subcontractors, and field teams.



Safety, Quality & Environmental Compliance



  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all project operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and permit conditions.
  • Coordinate inspections, audits, and corrective actions related to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.



Regulatory & Stakeholder Management



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, inspectors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support permitting processes and ensure field operations align with approved permits and environmental requirements.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to internal leadership and external partners.



Financial & Contract Management



  • Manage project budgets, cost controls, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and performance management.
  • Evaluate and administer change orders, resolve claims, and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect project outcome.
  • Ensure accurate project documentation for reimbursement, audits, and closeout.



Operations & Logistics Oversight



  • Oversee complex field operations including equipment utilization, hauling logistics, material handling, and site restoration.
  • Coordinate activities across temporary work areas, staging sites, disposal locations, and transportation routes.
  • Monitor productivity, equipment efficiency, and field performance to optimize operations.



Team Leadership & Development



  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, superintendents, engineers, and field staff.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, safety briefings, and performance reviews.
  • Foster collaboration between operations, environmental, safety, and administrative teams.



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 8-12+ years of progressive project management experience in heavy civil, environmental services, infrastructure, dredging, or similar industries.
  • Proven experience managing large, complex projects with multiple subcontractors and regulatory oversight.
  • Strong understanding of construction and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and operational risk.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with federally funded or publicly regulated projects.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting processes (e.g., Clean Water Act, and erosion).
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or CCM.
  • Experience working in water-adjacent or environmentally sensitive environments.
