What you'll do:

The Investor Relations Manager reports to the Investor Relations and Corporate Development Director and supports the development and execution of Western Alliance Bank's Investor Relations program whose primary objective is to implement shareholder engagement efforts to educate and update investors and security analysts about the company to achieve a fair relative stock price. This role will also assist with strategic finance and corporate development initiatives and contribute to the development of the corporate strategy.
  • Responsible for the tactical execution of the Bank's investor relations, and partners with the Investor Relations and Corporate Development Director on the development of the Bank's strategic initiatives around M&A, corporate development and planning, and strategic finance initiatives. Execute the creation of and provide ongoing input into Western Alliance's messaging and publications to the investment community. Support the bank's investor relations endeavors by supervising and performing analytical workstreams underlying those materials. Conduct research into key market, investor, and industry trends, and developing insightful discussion materials for senior leaders and the Board of Directors.
  • Support WAL's cultivation of relationships with current, new, and prospective investors, equity research analysts, and internal stakeholders. Conduct analyses to identify opportunities to target new investors and increase existing ownership. Attend and provide guidance on key sell-side analyst-sponsored conferences and investor meetings. Plan and execute investor engagement activities and represent Investor Relations, as requested.
  • Analytically evaluate corporate finance alternatives (as requested), such as capital management actions (dividend, share repurchases), and liaise with the broader Finance organization. Provide guidance to senior leaders on implications of competitive actions of peer banks, drivers of stock price and market valuations, and capital markets and industry trends.
  • In support of WAL's annual Strategic Plan process, conduct critical analyses and research into key economic, industry, and regional bank competitive trends to support development of Board materials. Facilitate internal discussions with WAL business heads to ensure alignment between corporate strategy and functional areas. Research and evaluate proposed business growth opportunities.

What you'll need:

  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other relevant field from a four-year college or university required. Master's degree in business, accounting, finance, or similar is beneficial.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of banking, including understanding of bank products, services, and regulations, policies and procedures, with an emphasis in lending practices and underwriting, deposit markets, and various credit markets for commercial and industrial lending, commercial real estate, and various niche markets
  • Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of investor relations activities and securities related regulations.
  • Professional certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Financial Modeling and Valuation Analyst (CFMV), or similar certification are desirable.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent analytical and organization skills.
  • Intermediate-to-advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and data mining/gathering. Intermediate-to-advanced computer skills including Microsoft office, financial reporting/accounting software.
