Lead development and maintenance of department resource materials, including utilization management desktop operational processes, policies and procedures Develop, present proposals, and implement ideas for policy and procedure reviews, creation of educational materials and process improvements Focus on quality of department "product"
Training
Oversee orientation, onboarding and training of new team members. Act as a resource to other leaders of the UM team. Promote a positive, effective and efficient work environment and cross-functional team approach.
ACCOUNTABILITIES: Leadership:
Responsible for the supervision of staff, including having the authority to hire, transfer, lay off, promote, discipline and discharge, train, reward and review performance of employees. Ensures compliance to organizational and departmental policies and procedures. In conjunction with other leaders, establish a focus on quality of department level product. Lead work around document management, including standards for development and maintenance of department and review level documentation. Actively contribute to department initiatives and annual plan goals. Lead utilization management quality and compliance staff Participate in performance improvement activities to increase engagement and improve experience
Onboarding /Training:
In collaboration with the utilization management leaders, identifies training and orientation needs, and ensures ongoing training and education of all staff to increase knowledge, broaden perspectives, and stimulate creativity. Develop role based learning strategies and materials. Evaluate knowledge, skills and competency for completion of the orientation process. Work closely with staff supervisors to address issues or concerns Develop and maintain a system for tracking and monitoring department on-boarding and training plan, working in collaboration with leadership team and with a focus on risk management. Develop presentations, facilitate meetings, coordinate "train the trainer" programs, prepare simple, intuitive visual and narrative training materials and coordinate with other training personnel/ resources as needed. Assist with data analysis and interpretation in order to support data driven decisions or changes. Suggest alternate reporting strategies as appropriate. Elevate the skills and knowledge of our employee base Leverage myLearning as a tool for presenting and tracking training courses Embrace change. Create an environment that encourages creativity, independence, and willingness to change in utilization management team members. Evaluates current programs; prioritizes needs and opportunities; outlines annual plans for innovative improvements or new programming; and leads successful, timely changes to meet established goals and objectives. Identifies trends and opportunities to improve, then prioritizes and initiates improvement efforts as necessary and when appropriate.
Technology:
Maintain knowledge of, and effectively use, automated applications and systems and applicable software. Develop and maintain effective manuals and systems tools to be used for orientation, training and as ongoing resources. Update existing training in concert with new and system enhancement releases.
Personal Development:
Participate in ongoing independent study and education to develop and maintain knowledge in the areas of applicable software systems, regulatory and accreditation standards and quality improvement strategies, as well as on-boarding and training techniques. Consistently apply HealthPartners organizational and department values (missions/ vision /values), values and continuous quality improvement principles in relationships, daily work, and program supervision. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care Management or related field. Minimum of 6 years' experience in health-related fields with relevant utilization management experience. Minimum of 4 years of managerial/ supervisory experience with demonstration of effective organizational and leadership skills including recruiting, hiring, training, direct supervision of employees and completion of performance reviews Demonstrated effective, independent leadership and management skills in the development of new and ongoing medical management quality and training programs. 5 years of experience in training and/or staff development and adult learning styles. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate with staff at all levels within the organization and externally. Advanced verbal, human relation and leadership skills Excellent customer service skills and proven team building skills. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel and Visio. Excellent technical and business writing and editing skills using process flow visuals, narrative, FAQ's High degree of initiative and ability to work independently, and within a group. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work effectively, including the flexibility to accommodate frequent changes. Advanced problem-solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BSN or RN degree and current MN license. Training in the principles of adult education Previous experience in a leadership role
DECISION-MAKING:
Performs independently within scope of accountabilities. Evaluates and articulates business needs and translates business needs to educational programs using appripriate tools and accounting for different learning styles resulting in demonstrated staff competencies. Works in cross-functional teams as a representative of the UM department
