Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing plant machinery, equipment, and tools. This role also includes preparing and properly using equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation. The mechanic works under general supervision and relies on experience and established guidelines to perform daily job functions, while working safely and efficiently in a busy, fastpaced environment. It is essential that the mechanic practices strong machine safety standards and is proficient in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical Qualifications
    • Proficient with industrial computers, networked systems, and basic IT troubleshooting (IP setup, device connectivity, software navigation).
    • Strong understanding of electronic components such as sensors, relays, contactors, switches, circuit boards, and lowvoltage controlsystems.
    • Practical experience with PLC systems, including troubleshooting I/O issues
    • Working knowledge of HMI systems-navigating screens, interpreting alarms, and diagnosing machine status.
    • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
    • Skilled in maintaining and troubleshooting automated equipment (conveyors, robotics, and production machinery).
    • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols
    • Familiar with VFDs, including basic programming and parameter adjustments.
    • Proficient using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, signal generators.
    • Experienced in performing routine and scheduled preventive maintenance forproduction equipment, including automated systems.with accuracy, documentation, and followthrough.
    • Capable of completing technical tasks and troubleshooting independently with minimal or no supervision.
    Mechanical Skills
    • Strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities on motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, actuators, and mechanical drive systems.
    • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics, including cylinders, valves, pumps, regulators, and pressure controls.
    • Ability to perform mechanical repairs such as component replacement, alignment, tensioning, lubrication, and rebuilds.
    • Understanding of mechanical safety devices, interlocks, guarding, and machine operation fundamentals.
    Preferred Experience & Certifications
    • Bilingual- English and Spanish
    • 2-5 years in industrial, manufacturing, or automationfocused environments.
    • Technical degree or trade certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Automation Technology, or Electrical/Electronics.
    • Relevant certifications such as PLC troubleshooting, OSHA 10/30, and IPC/electronics soldering.
    • Experience using CMMS systems for work orders, maintenance tracking, and downtime documentation.

    • Able to work independently and use a methodical troubleshooting approach
    • Highly organized with an emphasis on detail
    • Clear and effective communicator with operations teams.
    • High sense of urgency and ownership for equipment uptime.
    • Organize parts and materials in the proper locations
    • Lift, move, push, pull, carry and manipulate large and small materials weighing up to 20lbs frequently and up to 50lbs unaccompanied
    • Display a positive team player approach supporting management objectives
    • Able to follow directions well
    • Willingness to learn.
    • Able to work in various elements and environments, including hot/cold conditions, outdoor areas, production floors, and tight or elevated spaces as required.
